Title: KPM TDI
Post by: kev@kpm on July 27, 2011, 01:12:48 pm
so, its time for some of you to see our latest achievement, it started life as a 140bhp 2 litre TDI BKD courier car (smashed)

 (https://www.mk5golfgti.co.uk/forum/proxy.php?request=http%3A%2F%2Fdaz.co%2Fmedia%2Fl611%2Fmrscouserkev%2FIMG_2138.jpg&hash=b4ad163f9d16b84f2670d61a15cc8510dff6528c)

in true KPM fashion it was stripped and rebuilt from the ground up.......

(https://www.mk5golfgti.co.uk/forum/proxy.php?request=http%3A%2F%2Fdaz.co%2Fmedia%2Fl611%2Fmrscouserkev%2FIMG_2183.jpg&hash=554b16b197916ce3bc34c7ecc89f43114a436ea6)

and what we are left with is a 280 BHP race ready 2 litre TDI.

(https://www.mk5golfgti.co.uk/forum/proxy.php?request=http%3A%2F%2Fdaz.co%2Fmedia%2Fl611%2Fmrscouserkev%2Fphoto5.jpg&hash=0bb2887a31cb52ddb26594a1d3b1b97ee7c86718)

it has 500nm of torque, which in simple terms means it can drive up a flagpole (towing another Mk5)

(https://www.mk5golfgti.co.uk/forum/proxy.php?request=http%3A%2F%2Fdaz.co%2Fmedia%2Fl611%2Fmrscouserkev%2Fphoto3.jpg&hash=c81fe4658282efb60090a4e7e3f812aa372a84b6)

it did one run on the rolling road at 309BHP, although i felt this might be demanding a little to much from the little courier. so we settled at 280.

(https://www.mk5golfgti.co.uk/forum/proxy.php?request=http%3A%2F%2Fdaz.co%2Fmedia%2Fl611%2Fmrscouserkev%2Fphoto2.jpg&hash=be913f6b2c06b65aa6a004b3126da2a97d2d6259)

it will be interesting to see what some of you think as there seems to be more and more dieselheads out there.

(https://www.mk5golfgti.co.uk/forum/proxy.php?request=http%3A%2F%2Fdaz.co%2Fmedia%2Fl611%2Fmrscouserkev%2Fphoto4.jpg&hash=468de41c895f5f4e506daf0f15719826956766e7)

theres still a few jobs to do but the idea is that we will be running the car in thailand for the second half of the season.

standard on something. we take the turbo off a v6 diesel and graft it on the back.

i will make anything fit anything, but im not sure you would want to spend 10k, (yes ten thousand pounds sterling) on injectors!!!!!!!

Post by: gazbutS3 on July 27, 2011, 04:27:16 pm
brilliant, is there a reason you use 5 door shells?, stiffer??
Title: Re: KPM TDI
Post by: kev@kpm on July 27, 2011, 04:46:17 pm
primarily if you smack the side of these racecars, which they do regularly, its much more cost effective and less time consuming to change a door skin, and even door than it is to put a rear quarter on one. we measured about 40kilos difference between a four door shell and a two door shell but then we run to a weight which we nearly always have to bolt weight in to make the cars legal. there is no relevant difference between the stiffness of a 4 and a 2 door car.

Having heard this thing run (It revs like no diesel I have experienced) and seen the video of it on the dyno it's one of the first diesels I would want to own

£10,000 on injectors?! How is that even possible?!  :surprised:

Post by: kev@kpm on July 27, 2011, 09:55:05 pm
I KNOW!!! You havent heard the best yet, for that discounted price, they dont even include the cost of injectors, you supply them your standard units and they re-profile and re laser drill the miniscule holes all the way round the injector. you do however get a lovely bosch motorsport cardboard box with real bosch motorsport tape around it. - i think that is how they justify the cost.

How much are brand new ones then?!

As Steve says on this one it is unbelievable from the dyne runs I've seen on video.  And next time planes are grounded for volcanic ash best check kevs not out racing first as this thing could be the cause without a doubt! It's black cloud city!

i shudder to think. bosch motorsport, or so i have been told, dont actually want lots of these injectors around the place. the price is simply to put people off buying them. they were not that forthcoming producing them, after 6 months correspondence they took the order and then 12 weeks later they showed up, with no map, or suggestion of where to start. weve sussed it now but its been hard work. there are 2 sets in the uk that i know of, someone might be able to tell us different???

Best you join the end of the Q behind steve and Geordie, it can only be video'd from head on as the toxic trail of devastation it leaves behind it simply turns day into night.

Hi Kev, how about a run down of your spec, mine is no where near yours still got the injectors, exhaust, and bespoke map to do at the moment all I have is the decat, GT1756 stage 2 hybrid turbo and bluefin map that has been altered a wee bit.

It made 207bhp and only 300ftlb but I don't get any smoke or very little. I still need to fit a new clutch but undecided to get a bigger intercooler?

Darren

so, just for morty.

we sent the diesel car completed out to thailand and handed it over to our customer, after a bit of a delay due to the floods it took part in the bangsaen speed festival, may i add its first ever time on a track. not only did it win its class  :congrats: but also came fith overall in a field of 30 cars and some fairly strong, if not a little disgruntled competitors.  :P
(https://www.mk5golfgti.co.uk/forum/proxy.php?request=http%3A%2F%2Fdaz.co%2Fmedia%2Fl611%2Fmrscouserkev%2FSaenSuk-20120204-00017.jpg&hash=77d23b676de694e8cb68c743dfffe9aa4554eecc)

this is the car in the garage  sporting its maiden trophy on the bonnet. another first time out win from KPM. very pleased with it and already orders are currently being taken for more.

if we get another one commisioned we will be using a different software supplier so who knows, we could be looking at an improvment on the already awesome.
