Title: Just a random question
Post by: SL03 JOE on July 27, 2011, 08:54:11 pm
Hi there, kinda new to the forum and i see that alot people go for the KO4 upgrade, i was wondering how hard it is to upgrade the KO3 turbo to a KO3s? my brother has one on his mk4 GTi it runs about 250bhp and it is seriously fast with extreme pulling power!! sounds like a jet when he boots it!

so i was wondering what would be needed to go to a KO3s and what the gains would possibly be?

Also is the KO3s a better turbo than the KO4?
would the KO3s internals/parts be exspensive ?
would it be a possible DIY job or professional?

Just a few questions there for you smart people :happy2:

P.S The golf is also for sale if anybody is interested just PM Me

The K03 and K03s used on the Mk4 is different to the K03 used on the 2.0TFSI. There is no K03s on the 2.0TFSI that's why people go for the K04.

K04 is the most common but to do it properly you will need other stuff supporting remap, bigger injectors, DV relocation parts  :happy2:

A lot of people have K04's because their car came with a K04 (i.e. they have an Edition 30, Pirelli, Leon Cupra R, S3), there isn't a lot of people with standard GTI's running K04's  :happy2:

Nope, Edition 30 has a different version of the 2.0TFSI engine with stronger internals.

Yeah true, but think I'll stick with the golf I've got it's completely mint, only done 19k miles full VW service history so guess I'll grit my teeth. Till next year I'll buy an scirocco R or something.

You can take a standard GTi to 270-280bhp - 300lb/ft torque with the correct software, intake, downpipe and HPFP!  :driver:
