Title: Front air intakes.
Post by: swgti on July 29, 2011, 08:55:52 pm
In the honeycombe sections on the front that house the fog lights I've a couple of holes in each that house the screws and another 1/2 hole right next to fogs, I've noticed on a few gti's now that some have more holes than others knocked out is there a reason for this?
I realise some people will do it themselves for added air flow or to compliment mods but i'm pretty sure a couple of the cars i've seen with extra holes were not being driven by modding types.

You can get the open fog grills as an oem item from your dealer.

Yeah I've seen those basically a full square taken out, others I've seen though are either odd holes or just a line.

I have seen these, with just one or two honeycombs missing,
Presume it was just a design thing that changed, can't see any performance benefits to it.

.
Open foglight panel vents aren't going to do anything worthwhile unless you duct them: Either to the front brakes or on one side only to an aftermarket air intake (but need to protect against water ingress).
