Title: 3rd level brake light
Post by: P60MME on July 30, 2011, 05:24:40 pm
Someone informed me that my LED brake light isn't working. I did some searches and it seems I've either got to folk out an arm and a leg to get VW to change it or attack it myself.

My question is, How can I check I have power going to the light? I'm asking as all the LEDs are dead as opposed to just some.

Any help appreciated.

can you see any signs of water inside the light? if so just change it, it's dead easy and remember to put the sprinkler nozzle in 2 o'clock position to avoid it happening again

yup, there's DIY somewhere on here, in general break the old one, take it out, unplug and remove the 2 screws that helped hold it in place and plug the new in, and click it in place, job done

You'll need to be reading this:

Basically you smash the old light, pull the bits out, and fit a new one. Or pay VW to cut your spoiler off with cheese wire, replace the light, bond the spoiler back on & repaint.

That's pretty cheap! Gonna be harsh smashing it out! Rather that than pay 200 sobs to vw!

Exactly. There's nothing to lose trying it yourself. Wouldn't surprise me if VW did it this way anyway  :signLOL:
