Can anyone advise if a mk6 back box would fit on a mk5?

I know the front sections - downpipe etc are the same but at the rear it obviously splits into 2 as dual exit so you would need the valance,  not sure about the rear silencer but chasis is the same so looks promising ?

What I'm after is just the back box.  I have just swapped the nasty black plastic valance on swmbo's GT for a Gti type with the opening for the twin tailpipes, at the moment it looks a bit sad as the GT140 has the concealed exhaust pipes, my mecahnic is going to bodge a couple of chrome tail trims for the interim, but eventually I want a complete rear silencer.  While trawling through eBay I have found a complete system from a mk6 1.4 Tsi, which on the mk5 is the same as the GT170 and Gti.........

This is the one I have my eye on -

Edit: Just had a look under my car, and the routing is different but the back box looks the same.  :confused:

That looks exactly like the one on the Mk5 gti so looking promising for you  :party:

The tdi won't have the centre box either.  The mounts will all be the same though.

I've contacted another seller who has a mk6 GT Tdi system for 60 quid -

As I only need the back box he is prepared to cut it off and post it, obviously the mk6 rear bumper is different but I pressume the outlets will be the same if all the mounts are?

Not sure if it's too late or not but...

I have an original MK5 GTI exhaust (backbox with twin pipes) up for grabs if you're interested?

It came off my TDI and therefore already has the reducer/sleeve attached to it.

This means it will be a direct fit for a GT.
