Anybody with ETKA know if this comes complete.

When I replaced my canister it came with it. I still have my old canister and pipe too if it can't be bought separate and you want it.

I'll be interested in the pipe.

Why did you replace yours.

IIRC it comes as a complete part. JKM replaced mine back in June. Think it was about £12 or so for the part.

Yes it does. They are £9 odd from a dealer as I have replaced them before.

If you can get the pipe you're sorted  :happy2:
I replaced my canister because of an EVAP fault code where over filling causes the charcoal canister to fail.

Over-filling as in filling your petrol tank to the brim?

Yes if you brim the tank it will ruin the charcoal canister.

Thanks given, didn't know that.

Do this at the last fuel stop in Germany to squeeze as much tax free fuel in for the drive to England

I used to do the same thing (usually at Wankum). But when i got the EVAP fault i replaced the breather line (twice) and in the end was told i needed a new cannister as it was kaput due to brimming the tank.

I wish I'd known this. I often "brim" the tank!! :ashamed:

What are the symptoms of a problem, or is it just if it shows an error code?

No symptoms till you get the light on the dash. However a scan with VCDS will reveal an EVAP fault. Can't remember the exact wording but something along lines EVAP Emission control malfunction :happy2:

The previous owner of mine must have brimmed the tank regularly so I just replaced the canister and now fill to the first pump click.

Any ideas what the part number is for item 3 in the diagram can’t find it anywhere.

I cannot either, I just looked at the one on the car and no luck as it’s seems to have worn off.

Worn off on mine too.  It's on a different EKTA diagram, probably the intake manifold.

I changed my charcoal canister because of the vcds scan fault and changed the selenoid and guess what? Still got the fault code and no symptoms.

Thanks for the part number v4rley.
unfortunately for me it’s been diagnosed as a leaky injector seal on number 1, not the hose.

Looks like the pipe might have been in a bind from the position it is in now that is if it is still bolted to the motor in that picture.

Mines also now producing a fault code for this. How do you determine if its definately charcoal canister or leaky injector? If this is also left for a prolonged amount of is there any potential damage that can be caused.
