I have been looking to refurb my Zeniths, but for only a £100 more I can get a set of BBS CH replicas, however being reps I have my concerns about quality, weight etc. Does anyone have experience with these or other replica wheels that they could bring to the table?
-
I have CH reps.
very impressed with them. A little heavier than the standard wheels but cant really notice the difference on the road.
Strength wise i have had no problems and there are alot of potholes near me.
Paid £400 for just the wheels and bolts
-
Thats good to hear, the sets I'm looking at are about the same price on ebay. Do you mind me asking where you got yours from?
-
any links to these at that sort of price please?

Whats ironic is you guys so far have not experienced any problems, however apart from one person all the Briskodians I've asked who have owned replica wheels have had nothing but problems. These range from bent and buckled wheels, the requirement of adding excessive weights to balance them and the balancing needing changing after a few months to the paint falling off! :surprised:
-
I'v got CH reps and no problems with them at all.. They'r the best wheels for the mk5, it'l make the car look 8)
-
certainly the style i would like...however, seen some Neuspeed ones that are very similar and seem good value.

...from Awesome GTi...

Just had a butchers, I notice they are 18 x 9 ET45, not sure these will be ok on the vRS. Although these could be an alternative -

What size tyres do you have fitted?
EDIT: Ran the sizes through an offset calulator and they are a no - compared to the Zenith they extend a further 25mm, after fitting 15mm spacers it was borderline rubber when the boot was loaded. :sad1:
The good thing is the eBay ones are only 18 x 8 ET42. http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=320726944288&ssPageName=STRK:MEWAX:IT :happy2:

I'd be tempted by some genuine ones at £600, especially in the new 'titanium' finish.. :happy2:

And the regular silver finish..

I thought I'd share this, below is my message to an eBay seller, imo not an unreasonable thing to ask:
My question -
Hi, I am very interested in these wheels but I am concerned about the quality, have you had any returns due to bending/buckling or issues with the finish lacquer peeling etc? Also do you supply bolts for the wheels?
Thanks, Lee.
The response :
you are joking we only sell top quality wheels just look at our feed back
My reply:
No offence intended, but they are cheap for a set of 18" wheels, plus I have owned replicas in the past which have suffered the problems I mentioned.
And there reply:
not our wheels
Ok, so their feedback is 100% for a staggering 69 items sold :indifferent: but to be fair that is based on delivery time and quality of product out of the box, not after 6 months driving over pot holes etc.....
My view is, fine so they claim the wheels they supply are top quality, pity about their attitude towards potential customers. :angry015:
-
i would steer clear simply due to their attitude. some reasurrance was what was required, not defensiveness. give 'em a wide berth.

Exactly my point, I don't think what I was asking was in anyway having a poke at there wheels, but when you are shelling out nearly 400 quid a bit of reassurance goes a long way......
-
Their attitude stink! :fighting:
