Title: Romany's Red Rocket.
Post by: RoMocop on August 07, 2011, 05:21:27 pm: Just very recently picked up my gti in tornado red. It is a 5dr manual with leather interior.

Its all pretty standard apart from the charleston alloys that Ive put on there.

The next few mods lined up will just be mild ones for now, all cosmetic. :signLOL:

- changed my dv to revision d. (should be 30min job, took me a couple of hours :ashamed:. Have to be worlds best gymnast to get to the thing)
- gti seat inserts courtesy of Mandy.

Coming up-

- boot pop mod, got parts on order.
- Osir front splitter.
- colour code side skirts and rear bumper valance.

Dropped my car off this morning to my mates garage, spent basically the whole day sanding down the side skirts and rear bumper ready to be primed- If the finish looks crap it'll be my fault :grin:, hopefully have the car back Saturday afternoon. Then, hopefully fit my parts for the boot pop mod and kindly ask VRStu to code it in for me.
Still debating whether to have the Osir front lip fitted, bought that before the car lol, insurance says no though so will prob have to wait until next year. just so tempting. :sad1:

It comes in 4 parts, two bits to make up the sides (red parts), 2 middle (black) sections- they are different shapes so you can change them to whichever look you want.

....It's not uncommon for OSIR stuff to have fit issues.

Personally I'd do the middle section gloss black to match both front grill surround and the rear exhaust trim. But it's whatever you like best which matters most. :happy2:

- Milltek resonated cat back

I've recently had this idea of getting the bonnet wrapped, initially thought gloss black would look good but then perhaps matt black would suit better with the detroits on the car. Will have to have a think on that one. :popcornsoda:

My bonnet got wrapped fro free after a mix up when i had my roof wrapped, I didnt keep it on long though.

Got the lip sprayed by David Proctor who is a member on here, also tried to hide away those stone chips on the bonnet and wings too, involved a bit of wet sanding which was a bit scary. :scared:

first coat of paint put on and then fitted to the car. Just taping it up ready for the next coat of paint.

If the OSIR wasn't in existence my front splitter would be the Ed30 like yours - It's a great design and so much better than the standard black GTI one.

Robin you could get your settings turned up (still maintaining 100+bhp headroom) and get a sensible 260-270bhp all day long

IIRC you said yours was watered down??

Romany - great result for the mods! Just shows with the right set up, the K03 can be right up there with the stg1 K04's :happy2:

Kind of. Mandy keeps telling me I should save for a newer car as the Ed30s are getting older now plus I havent really had my car that long, I do think the Ed30s are great cars though.

How much do you think they are worth? Good tyres, good condition, bit of worming on one bit of lacquer.

(I did try to repair it myself at home but it didnt turn out well, I read on the internet and people recommended the Wurth silver spray to match the BBS Hyper silver. To be honest I didnt think it matched that well, sparkled too much!)

I'm really pleased with the results and how easy it was to do. They're not dead perfect but good enough! Need to wait il tomorrow to fit them as it was too dark by the time I had finished. :ashamed: :signLOL:
