Title: Remove DSG gear stick

Hi all,

I have a DSG gearstick and for the past 10k miles, the stitching on the gearstick has started to come apart to a point where I need to get it off the car and in the house where I can attempt to fix it... My problem is I can't work out how you remove the gear stick from the actual gear selector unit, it appears to be locked in place..? I'm sure others have done this before and I'm sure there must be a guide out there, but I just can't find it... Help...

How do you actually get the gear knob off / detach from the gaiter?
