Right Guys,
Currently I have a set of Black Alloys with a Silver Lip! The lip is starting to corrode, I've been told I can get it polished out OR just do a refurb! Not polishing it out is only going to save a few quid and wont last as long as the refurb!
My plans now are to go for a refurb, but do I get a full Gloss Black alloy or a full Gloss Anthracite alloy?! Pictures of anyone with a Steel Grey Car and with Black or Anthracite alloys would be a great help! I'm just not sure if the Black will be too...erm...black! The Silver Lip currently seems to break the alloys and arches up nicely if you get what I mean!?
Cheers,
Tom

I'd be inclined to get them redone in matt black with a silver lip.
Any pics of the alloys?

Not the best of images but I'm at work so dont have anything I can show close up! The problem I have is the alloys seems to be paints fully in black then the lip has the paint stripped, and once this is done the laquer doesnt sticvk hence the corroding! To have the silver lip painted on would mean painting the alloy twice and so the price would soon double! I've been given a price of £160ish for all four alloys refurbing to a single colour which seems pretty good!

I think anthracite might be too close in colour to your car and not really contrast your paintwork. I have anthracite on reflex silver and they work really well with that colour but not sure it would work with steel grey. I'd go for the black with the silver lip again.

If the lacquer is done properly, no white worm. A1 in Wolverhampton use an acrylic lacquer or something which sticks better to the diamond cut finish.

+1. Grey calls out for black. :happy2:

Wouldnt go for gloss myself, not keen on them being so shiny. Go similar to what you have or just go bonkers and get them yellow like the surround to the exhaust :rolleye:

Yeh the idea was to have a Yellow Rim and Black Alloy! However, just like the Silver with Black I'm going to have to pay double as it needs painting twice!
I'm decided that I will be going with Black again, but not sure if I want to fork out twice as much to have the rim a different colour...
I'm currently looking at £160 for all four done in Gloss Black :happy2:

Go for matt black! Gloss are a swine :fighting:

All gloss for me, matt looks like you haven't bothered to clean them ... :happy2:

Yeh I have Gloss Black at the moment and theres nice, but I'm just in two minds about the sliver lip LOL!
Basically I have 3 options...
1) Polish the lip for about £30 a wheel - and prolly have to do it once every couple of years
2) Refurb the alloys into full Gloss for about £160 for the set!
OR
3) Just save up and get them painted with the silver lip, which is looking like it'll cost £320!

Satin black is a great option IMO.
