Title: Monza 2's, Xenons and Insurance
Post by: crashdesk on August 10, 2011, 04:07:50 pm
What will affect insurance. I am going to see a car with xenon headlights and 18" monza's. Do I need to declare this to the insurance company? If so, what affect on price will it have. I am assuming that 18" are okay because they are an optional extra?

Thanks,
C

Are they factory fitted xenons & wheels or have they been retrofitted? Shouldn't make much difference though.

If they are factory fit then they wont need to be declared or affect insurance.

How can I check if they are factory fitted as I don't trust dealers lol

Not sure if the dealer can find out but in the boot there's a sticker with codes and that will tell you as each code is an option..

There is a site that tells you what each code is but I'm on my iPhone and can't find it

The dealer will be able to find out what's on the car from factory so just ask them to check if the xenons are factory fit. Also  what else is on it has an option.

As NODZ said. The sticker will also be in your book/manual.

Perfect. Thanks. You don't know what the codes are for xenons and 18's at all. I know I'm asking a lot. :-)

Easiest way to check if retrofit is to look at whether it has autolevelling and washers. Costs around £1000 to retrofit so unlikely to have been done. Run the codes through the decoder.

Thanks. How do I check autolevelling?

The inside page of your manual showing a series of codes shows the dealer everything spec wise .. There is a website to check yourself but off the top of my head I can't remember it

I assume you talking about the site in my above post?
