Title: DSG question
Post by: Nasir on August 11, 2011, 12:36:14 am
The DSG rev matches on the down shift, so why does it not sound like it does?

What I mean is, in the R32 it blips quite obviously and you can hear it. The GTI does not make this sound, but a manual S3 (similar engine) can make the blip style noise. Why is this?

It's almost as if the change is too slow on the down shift even though it looks really fast.

What age is the car?

My MY2011 DSG vRS blips on the downshift when using the paddles etc and you can hear it quite obviously and also see it on the reve counter. On the flip side my 2008 DSG Diesel never made the noise

It's my friends 2006 GTI, you can see the revs rise very quickly and it engages smoothly but it doesn't make the blip noise. I've seen a few YouTube videos and they don't do it either. Is it supposed to? Or has it been programmed not to happen?

I don't know if it's just a feature that's been added to later cars. As i said my 2008 Diesel never but my 2011 vRS does.
