Title: The Mk5golfGti Expectant ( & recent) parent club!
Post by: Tfsi_Mike on August 16, 2011, 01:12:40 pm

Idea stolen from SCN but being I spend more time over here and the recent additions ( mostly twins! :scared:) I thought it would be a good topic!

Harry (Tfsi_Harry!) is due 29th Nov, we're at 24weeks and he's started kicking like mad!

Going to be a stressful Xmas!  He's due 29Nov, we'd prefer to give birth here in Germany but I move to Nottingham early Jan so will have to see how it pans out.

Harry a few weeks ago....

I became a dad to a little girl on the 13th January this year.

Because my wife was having quite  a tough pregnancy and the snow was really bad here I decided to get rid of the Gti and bought a Tiguan sport as we had a couple of hospital appointments per week. Ticks all of the boxes for me at the moment but will defo be getting a performance car when she is a little older, plus 3 years free servicing and mot's. :happy2:

Best thing ever is becoming a dad. Awsome!  :pomppomp: :jumpmove: :jumping:

Probably won't be so cocky when she turns 16 mind you............

My wife is 14 weeks pregnant with our second child. Still early days but we've had the first scan and all looks good. Second scan is booked in 5 weeks time. He or she is due on the 14th February, but we don't intend on finding out the sex. I'm secretly hoping for another boy!

And this is Jude who is two and a half, and the reason for my sleepless nights. Boy is he hard work, but worth it!

I'm not a mum nor do I expect to be a mum any time soon but seeing as I am a girl and were programmer to be baby mad I'm all over this!

All I have to add is baby recaro seat. Boy at my work also has a mk5 gti and a 1 year old girl and he has a recaro baby seat, looks cool as flip!

Well we had our (first and only probably) baby girl last November, but did not know what flavour baby was all through the other half's term. So we used the unimaginative name of STIG most of last year.

We were even bought wooden multi coloured letters, so Fran still has STIG on her bedroom door.
Get the feeling Francesca (her Sunday name) will be a petrolhead though, as her Mum likes her motors/sport.

BTW If the other half ever suggests looking at the Audi garage to see what A4 Avants are like, walk her the other way.
Now we have an A4 Avant...luckily managing to my Eddy though, as we need two cars.

Oh forgot to add, fatherhood for someone who avoided it for 42 years is pretty darn cool, my little girl is a star.

Listened to the heartbeat at our midwife appointment last week, was really clear & healthy

1st time took ages as the little machine kept just giving feedback & he wouldn't stop moving around.

Dragging - yep!  Been a little different to the first one - the Mrs is so uncomfortable, having trouble sleeping etc etc the first seemed like a breeze compared to this one.

We were getting all the stuff down from the loft and going through washing it etc - my god there's some stuff, some never been worn.

He likes to sit in it after a while but last time he kept folding the mirrors in and out which resulted in a flat battery but it was ok, he told me I just need to get some more from Tesco!

Try to keep him out the new Leon with the wellies.

Timely topic.  Recently found out the missus is expecting.  2 days before we moved from a 1 bed flat to a house - hows that for timing!

Very early days yet.  Scary stuff - don't feel old / responsible enough to be a dad even though I'm 28.  :scared:

Congratulations. its a shock but you get used to it - still getting used to it now.  When they start talking/walking that when the fun begins.

When out first was born we were just going through an extention - new bedroom, en-suite, kitchen and making the garage wider - never again!  Oh and it included a new boiler which was great timing as thats when the snow hit the UK.

Although saying that were having a new downstairs loo next week and the main bathroom and old en-suite being re-done next month LOL

You get lots of tough days in the first ten months, night time cant come quick enough sometimes. But all the pain and weight of responsability disappears when they are sleeping on your chest or giggling at your faces. Nothing compares to the love you feel for your own children.   :ashamed:

Nothing compares to the love you feel for your own children.   :ashamed:

Your right though ... and when they are old enough to show the love back - it is incredible.

This always spring to mind ... Jeremy Clarkson on the Maserati Quattroporte - "This car is like a two year old child. It can really annoy you a lot of the time, but if anyone tried to take it away you would kill them."

I can imagine it must be hectic.

Lack of sleep is a nightmare - we thought things were getting better but then I was up again at 3 till 6 when he finally went down again.  The wife is feeding but you have to help out.

Not seen him all day today  :sad1: :sad1: as Ive been at the house trying to get it ready for pre handover inspection in the morning  :indifferent:

Havent had a minute to chase parcel force w8nkers but expect to get passed around in circles again  :fighting: :fighting: :fighting:

I have only had 3 hours kip all weekend due to work  commitments so feeling quite emotional anyway but that pic of him in the little grey socks just brought a lump to my throat.

  His little feet were cold.  I think the nuns in Paderborn who voluntarily work at the hospital may make some of the clothing.  It's all provided, theyve put him in a little vest today as theyre slowly reducing the temp/humidity etc in the incubator to get him towards going in a normal baby bed  < forum needs a bigger smile smiley
