Title: coilpack recall..

I'm sorry if this has been mentioned time again but I couldn't find the info I was after.

I have had my GTI a couple of months now and not due a service for another 6-7000 miles and was wondering how i would go about a coilpack recall. i havent seen anything in the history suggesting it has been done. Do you need a full service history?.. And can I just go to my local dealer (even though I haven't had the chance to use them yet) and ask for the recall.

All help would be appreciated. Thanks!

Post by: gobbleplease on August 16, 2011, 09:27:20 pm: Got mine done today ! they were not changed though its only coil packs before a certain date that are changed. My GTI was registerd in 2008 and had the newer revision coil packs fitted.

so might only be older cars that need it? could be wrong lol

"Workshop action 28F5-W-Ignition Coils" - mine's an '06 and I had mine replaced about a month ago.

A recall is safety related and VW would contact you to arrange, not the other way round. 'Workshop action' is the correct term - pedantic, but true.
