Hi guys,
I'm sorry if this has been mentioned time again but I couldn't find the info I was after.
I have had my GTI a couple of months now and not due a service for another 6-7000 miles and was wondering how i would go about a coilpack recall. i havent seen anything in the history suggesting it has been done. Do you need a full service history?.. And can I just go to my local dealer (even though I haven't had the chance to use them yet) and ask for the recall.
All help would be appreciated. Thanks!
Adam

Just ring up a VW dealer service department and ask if your car is on the coil pack replacement list.
-
Yep just give them a call, I had mine done last month, all 4 replaced
-
^^^ same, phoned up, booked in, replaced!
-
Mine were checked & changed last week when car was in for service/repairs :happy2:

If it was a recall they'd contact you, but it isn't it's a campaign.
As above the best advice is to ask.
-
Got mine done today ! they were not changed though its only coil packs before a certain date that are changed. My GTI was registerd in 2008 and had the newer revision coil packs fitted.
-
Ok thanks I will give them a call tomorrow
-
Mine is a "05" reg GTI and mine needed changed,
so might only be older cars that need it? could be wrong lol

Mine is a 2007 56 plate and it needed doing. As others have said just call your local dealer to check if your car is on the list.

This is what you seek:- http://www.mk5golfgti.co.uk/forum/index.php/topic,25506.0.html :happy2:
"Workshop action 28F5-W-Ignition Coils" - mine's an '06 and I had mine replaced about a month ago.
A recall is safety related and VW would contact you to arrange, not the other way round. 'Workshop action' is the correct term - pedantic, but true.

Mine are getting done right now. Mine's an 05 and when I phoned them up a couple of days ago they checked the reg and confirmed it was due a coilpack recall. So just phone up your local dealer and find out if yours need doing or not.
