Roughtly, what year did the GT TDI have its face lift?

VW spec(s) have me sooo :stupid:
This model below GT, has a standard heater controls, not the digital climate etc.....yet has the highline? would they have ordered the highline as an upgrade?

They were both an up grade option from new

Approx when did they have the facelift? new front style bumper, wheels etc?
and what is DPF?

and what is DPF? just looking at new car you see, seems DPF has extra 30bhp

You could have saved yourself some time by just googling DPF. The increased gain does not come from the DPF.

The wife used to have a 2007 (07) GT which had the facelift. Got it just before the GT sport came out.

After looking for an FL GT for nearly a year I consider myself somewhat of an expert :laugh:
During the hunt I found cars as old as 2006/06 with the facelift front, wheels etc, but I have a feeling they may have been done by the owners, I know that it was definitely available on a 56 plate, so my guess would be 2007MY. As said previously the highline, MFD2, climatronic etc were all optional extras, we have been very lucky with ours as it has the highline, MFD2, electric sunroof, arm rest with Ipod prep, I would have liked the climatronic but we can live without it.
Another milestone was the addition of the black gloss grille and GTi style headlights with black housing, ours is a 2007/07 registered in June, bad luck for us is the change happened in August of the same year..... :sad1:
But its nothing a roll of gloss black vinyl and an upgrade set of lights couldn't solve. :happy2:
DPF is a diesel particlate filter, you need to be careful with these as they are required to reach a certain temperature to re-gen themselves to work effectively (generally a journey of 10 miles or more) they were fitted to the PD170 but I did see the odd PD140 with them (rare though). Best practice - imho of course - especially on the PD engine which it was not really designed for is to get a delete pipe fitted and have the car mapped. :happy2:

I dod google it, and it sounds good, however there have been so many bad reviews of this DPF < people saying unless you are going to do long journeys avoid them with all costs.
Appreciate the help.......know kinda what I'm looking for.
Have now found a replacement car < if the insurance write mine off. Looks good, nice spec...............only catch......I go from Black which I love....to SILVER

Never had a prob with my gttdi 170 Dpf apart from a exhaust pressure sensor .. Which by all accounts are pretty par for the course .... You can tell when it needs to re-gen itself as it runs lumpy and ticks over at 1000 rpm instead of 800 ... Actions ..quick blast up a few junctions on mway in 4th 3000rpm job done ... Quality quick car especially mapped to over 200brake :wink: ps what's wrong with silver :P

The new front end was introduced with the new GT Sport in 2006-56 plate, The Diesel Particulate filter was introduced with the 163hp GT in 2007-07 but was an option on the 136hp GT diesel aswell.
Its more hassle on the golf than its worth and a lot of people take them off and map them out.
