Has anyone had to get their radio code from the dealers before??

If so was it a fairly straight forward affair or do I need to bring all my documents and pay lots of money to receive it lol??? noticed VW never put it in my handbook pack although it does say not all cars get sent out with it though.

I got the radio code for the one i took out of my GTI as i didnt realise i didnt get it with the car  :confused:

Took it down to the dealers with all the relevant paperwork and wasn't charged a penny for the code  :happy2:

Can I ask, did you get the code on a proper code card or was it just written on paper?

Having no joy so far with local dealers, trying to fob me off saying it has to be booked in and sorted in the workshop, all I want is the radio for my car :(

Legally the code is your right and they can't really charge you (what I read online). Ring a dealer anywhere in the country, they need the serial number for the radio and they will contact VW in Germany who will get you the code.

Alternatively you could go online with some of these places that charge you £5 for a code (never tried it though)

I got the code written on a piece of paper and not on a proper code card but i didnt push for the card so you might get one if you ask i guess?

I think it is possible as i'm sure i've seen some replies on this before with people being able to get the code off the car but not sure what software you need to do it  :confused:

I just phoned my dealer and they called me back within 10 mins with the code foc

Have a read of this thread. Basically as you legally obtained the head unit when you bought the car, the dealer has no right to refuse you the code for something you rightfully own.
