Hi all
I was directed here by the Mad, Modding, Music Master known as RedRobin. :P
I’ve been frequenting Tyresmoke since Robin and I both got our Red GTi’s in the same month back in 05. I’ve since gone through an Alfa 159 and a couple of bangers and am now the proud owner of a Candy White with DSG. I missed the fantastic transmission so much, the Alfa lasted just 4 months ( thanks Clarkson ). :ashamed:
I love my GTi and apart from a MK6, can’t think of anything that I would like to replace it with, even exotics costing double or more.
As you can see from my sig, I’m a long standing VW nut, from my first Scirocco back in 84, through 10 other Golf’s including an R32 to the present day. Will get a few pics up soon.

Ok... here ya go. Unfortunately the Croc croaked a horrible death about 6 months after these were taken and the Mk1 was stolen.

Wehey!! Glad you decided to join. This is a vibrant GTI site and with lots of resources.
And fatal if you have even the slightest inclination towards modding. In fact you are in the small start hut at the top of the mountain for the slippery slope, and it's all downhill.

My Girlfriend ( now wife ) was very nearly killed. The fireman that cut her out said its just as well the door lock held or she would have been dead. A guy came around a blind bend on the wrong side of the road and straight into her. His Cortina can be seen in the first image as it was towed to the same garage.

:surprised: :scared:
OMG, she was lucky to servive that!!!!!!
-
fffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffooook me mate
lucky to come out of that one :surprised:
-
Welcome to the forum Mixit
Just spotted your car in the candy thread, you can get yourself out of here with those seats.
-
She was very lucky indeed. She sustained some very serious injuries and still suffers with Rheumatoid arthritis to this day.
This was 24 years ago so no airbags and thank god she was wearing a belt. It wasn't mandatory at the time but we've allways worn em. Even so her face was responsible for re-shaping the steering wheel ( broken nose, jaw, loss of teeth etc. ) she had multiple leg and foot injuries and was on traction in hospital for 3 months. :(
Thisis one reason that we have stuck by VW's and they're strength ever since Ahem. apart from my Apfa :ashamed:

Aaar... regarding those seats. Iv'e been having some issues with the cover slipping off the back of the drivers seat.
Anyone else having this problem? Its been looked at by my local dealers but if it persists I'll look into getting it replaced.

I am not to sure what you mean, have you got any pics.

Will take a pic tonight but in the meantime Iv'e used yours.
The material comes away from the plastic shell at the back. Its happened loads of times in the past year.
It also comes off the front edge just under the front bolster.
Yours maybe fixed differently being leather.

If yours are out of warranty MJ interiors have worked with these seats a lot. :happy2:
Alternatively if you have the plaid cloth recaro's then you can trade them in on here for a new ED 30 post some pics up and watch them all drool. :rolleye:
-
The only thing I'd be unsure about over Ed30's would be the wiring for the Airbags. I don't think my car will have that part of the loom as the Recaro's don't have bags.
-
By the way, as a Mod, can you tell me how to get rid of the little email envelope in my posts?
Iv'e checked and unchecked "Hide from public" but it still stays ??

No i meant people drool over the cloth recaro's that much on here, that you could swap them for a actual ED 30 not just the seats
