hey guys....
this is a strange one, ive had the car about 4 months, and ive never noticed this.....a friend pointed it out this morning.
The passenger door from the window up is out by about 4/5mm - no damage on the frame, its def out as the driver door is flush! is this something to do with the door hinge? the door closes with no problem...
any suggestions?
-
although i don't know about this matter, a picture of the problem could help someone assist you?
-
This is a common problem iirc . I took mine back to dealer and he adjusted , mine was drivers side
-
jamma....as is it really?? What does IIRC mean?
was it easy for the dealership to fix? did they charge you for it?
-
Iirc means if I re call . I have the warranty so they just adjusted it for me in 5 mins

Mine was out from the bottom of the window up to the top when it was new. It is not a hinge misalignment. What I did was roll up two towels. Make one thinner than the other. Roll the window down. Open the door and place the thinner one on the forward side of the door between the window frame of the door and the A-pillar near where the window frame meets the door. Place the thicker towel between the window frame and the B-pillar again where the window frame meets the door. Adjust the towel thickness if needed so that when you put pressure on the window frame it feels like there is even pressure at both the front and rear where you have placed the towels between the door and the body. Now there should be a gap at the top between the window frame and the body. You can now apply light pressure to the top of the window frame to push it inward. Remove the towels and check the fitment. If needed repeat and check. You may need to adjust the thickness of the towels if you need more clearance to push inward some more. Chances are that a salesman decided to hang off the door with all of their weight to show someone how strong the doors were. I'm not joking as I saw one do this to one when I was looking months before I bought. I think the same guy must have done that to the one I bought before I got it. Good luck.

My off side rear door doesn't sit flush at the base of the window.
Iirc = if I remember correctly. In my world anyway. :happy2:

Both my doors are like that, pretty equal both sides about 4-5mm, I was pretty worried about it at first but looking at other 3dr cars they all appear to be the same although some seem to stick our more that others.

I work in a car factory, and its normal to bend all the doors into shape, twist the tailgates into shape etc etc.
We just do it with the windows up aswell, and havent broke anything yet, and thats doing it to 400 cars a day for the last 10 years or so :sad1:
Just close the door onto your foot at the bottom(steel toe cap boots) then just push the top of the door in, or rest a rubber mallet between the door striker hoop and where the door lock is, then push it in that way etc etc. no big deal :popcornsoda:

That dude must be related genetically to the guy that was showing me the gti and hanging off the window of the door, exactly the type! That's so funny you found that video.
Yes, you basically are bending it back into shape. That is exactly what anybody else will do to fix it as well. The towels will give you a soft fulcrum allowing you to get it back where it should be.

I'm just leaving mine, thay look ok as they're equal and seeing there doesn't appear to be any issues with it regarding leaks or anything.
