Hi guys can anyone tell me where i can get some multifunction buttons for my 08 dsg ed30? I have heard the steamers want £75 for each side plus fitting?
-
They occasionally pop up on here for ~£60 a set. A set not long ago search for 'MFSW'
-
here is one side

-
they are the older type. stick with the newer menu button type
-
Thanks guys.... have been doing the usual searches on here and there appears to be some uncertainty on what is required to retro fit these buttons so may see if the dealers is willing to do me a deal when fitting the cruise control @ £165 at the same time

I have now changed to the later style buttons.
-
Cheers fella... am now in the process of convincing a German seller to sell me a pair via E-bay
-
Well I've bitten the bullet and ordered the MFSW buttons to retro fit ASAP... will update as soon as they arrive
-
You would think the GTI would have them as standard !!. My sons little Pug 206 1.1 has them!!!.
-
agreed.... especially the Ed30 which has Sat Nav, etc, etc....

If it makes it any easier have them delivered to my house in Germany.

And payal a couple of quid for me to post it to you?
Just an option if it helps. Dealt with a few people on here that could vouch for me and I already have MFSW :happy2:
-
That's really generous of you mate, but I've already set payment to him now... seems my powers of persuasion are strong
-
Sorted :happy2:

Look forward to your update on this as really want this upgrade and can't understand why this isn't a standard feature?
I have an 07 DSG ED30 and believe it's a straight forward plug and play but still dubious on fitting them myself as have no technical experience.
-
Sorry to hikack the thread, but do you know if you can these be retro fitted to a non multi function dsg steering wheel ?

Yep, if you have a paddleshift wheel, you just fit them & go. Coding is sometimes required for full funcionality :happy2:

Sadly no. You will need a steering wheel controller & slipring at the minimum to make it work. Better to simply buy a wheel with MF buttons. Mk 6 wheels are popular & come up regularly.

Probably not the answer some readers of this post wanted, but i took a trip to the dealers yesterday for a DSG service and to have cruise control retrofitted. So I took the opportunity to have the recently purchased multifunction steering wheel buttons fitted at the same tie [which was done FOC]. Therefore I cannot comment on how hard or easy the process is... but from what the mechanic said... they simply plug in with no required coding. So as my car is an MY08 Ed30 with DSG, it is as simple as people have been saying on here.
I purchased mine from Germany on this link http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/260825466644?ssPageName=STRK:MEWAX:IT&_trksid=p3984.m1423.l2649 [hope this works] and can recommend him as i bought them on the monday and they were fitted on the Saturday... all prompt and as described.
The funtions all work excpet for the phone button... but that is because I do not have that option on my car.
Hope this helps?

Sorry, just to clarify - Yours was a non Multi function wheel before, so this is the full kit required ?
-
Graeme, have you a DSG with paddle shift? Unless the answer is 'yes' you're on a hiding to nothing.
If you do, then all you need are the correct button inserts (there are two types, for early & late cars) then it's fit & go.

Hi mate, I am considering fitting cruise via my dealer and very interested in getting the MFSW buttons fitted to my DSG ED30, do you mind telling how much your dealer charged for this please?
-
They fitted the cruise control for the list price of 165 all in, and as i provided the multifamily function buttons the simply plugged them in for free as the blank panels were taken off when fitting the cruise control

Thanks, will wait until I can get my hands on a set of buttons and then it's a trip to the dealers :happy2:
-
Gladiator, there are plenty of us who can fit these for you. Fitting mine via MortyGTTDi cost £10. The dealer is going to zap you for a lot more than that. It is actually a simple DIY job, if you fancy a go. There's a guide on here somewhere I think...
-
Its an easy DIY mod, find all the instructions here http://uk-mkivs.net/forums/t/156872.aspx (http://uk-mkivs.net/forums/t/156872.aspx)

Cheers mate, looking to get cruise fitted so was just going to ask the dealer to fit the buttons (once I can get my hands on some!) at the same time.
If I don't get cruise then will probably ask a more knowledgable and technically minded member to fit them as the thought of messing with the airbag myself fills me with fear :scared:
Do you know of anyone in the Hertfordshire area that could help for a few quid?
-
I'd send Kalu a pm, he's Hertfordshire based, and very handy indeed

Yeah, paddleshift dsg wheel, but just blank plates where the buttons would be
I'm not fussed about all the other functions, but do find taking my hands from the wheel to asjust the volume of the stereo or phone a bit of a pain
-
Should be straight forward then, buddy.

-
does any1 have a part number for the mfsw buttons?
-
Ask vrsCarl, he may be able to do a look up on ETKA
-
Link to the part numbers for the earlier buttons I had fitted on mine. Have now changed to the later type buttons, it’s normally the last letter on the end that changes but may well be wrong. :happy2:
