Title: Don't mention it!
Post by: andrewparker on August 21, 2011, 08:53:15 pm
This could almost be a follow up to my post about the lack of respect shown by other road users.

On Saturday morning I popped up to our Sainsbury's Local. When leaving I witnessed a woman in a Renault Megane reverse into a black Seat Leon Cupra. The impact left quite a dent in both cars. I sticked around to make sure the woman left a note, and asked her in passing to make sure she did. She said she would but walked right past me and into the shop. Thinking the worst I photographed both cars and went home to grab a piece of paper. Upon returning the Renault had left, but the Seat was still there. She hadn't left a note, so I did, leaving my mobile number in-case they needed it.

A good deed I thought! However, and may be I'm wrong to expect it, the owner of the Seat hasn't contacted me to express any sort of gratitude. I'm still pleased I did it, but in the same situation I'd have been straight on the phone.

If it makes you feel any better.

Some one paid me the same courtesy and warned me of a girl that had reversed into my wing and had driven off while I was eating a big mac meal and cut and pasting logging results into Excel in maccies
I couldnt have been more grateful, he gave me enough info to track her down and claim from her insurer.

Offered to buy him a crate but he wasnt fussed.

Karma will hopefully shine on you in return mate!  :notworthy: :notworthy:

That's sods law isn't it you witness what happened and it seems the Leon owner doesn't care,I bet if someone hit mine there wouldn't be anyone around good enough to do that, even if the Leon owner wasn't that bothered it wouldn't have hurt to call you and say thanks

About a year ago I was driving up the M11, behind a brand new R32.
Was looking at it when a lorry in the left lane to us indicated to move into our lane. I must have been in a good mood as I slowed to allow him to move in front of me. Next thing I know he's clipped the rear wing of the R32.
The driver did a decent job of keeping it straight to avoid it rolling over!

They both pulled over, and so did I, just to make sure everything was Ok and for any witness needs etc. The driver of the lorry was pretty shaken up, and so was the woman who was driving the Golf.

Asked if both were Ok and gave my details for any insurance needs. even offered to wait around with her for a while until she was ok enough to drive again as she was pretty shaken up, rather then leave her alone with the lorry driver to exchange details.

Never heard from her again!
Earnt some bonus points with the wife though ;) lol

Andrew, you need to contact the local police. Leaving the scene without exchanging/leaving details is an offence under the Road Traffic Act. Give all your details to them & they will act accordingly

dont see much point in contacting the police when neither party seems to bothered i cant see the police being interested either
I wouldnt give it another minute of my time after no contact was made
