Title: Just taken delivery of a Pirelli Edition - NOW WITH PICCIE
Post by: gtipirelli on March 28, 2009, 08:28:42 pm
Just thought I would say hello and introduce my new addition

Traded in my 2 yr old Audi TT 2.0T for a 58 reg, 5 door, 5600 mile black Pirelli Edition Golf GTi.

Not sure what was std on it from new but it has MFSW, high spec onboard computer, electric folding mirrors, auto lights - these all seem like things that would be extra. I would be grateful if someone could let me know what was an extra when they were new.

I have the car running a remap already so it is in the region of 300bhp. It is sensationally quick through the gears compared to the TT and is a mile load smoother. Also, the steering response and grip also seem to be up on the TT - I have a feeling that the very soft rubber of the P Zero tyres may be something to do with it. Anyone got any idea what sort of mileage I am likely to get out of them given most of my miles will be motorway/A Roads

How many other members are running Pirelli GTi's at the moment. I cannot seem to be able to find out how many Pirrlli's are in the UK. The dealer said less than 1,000 but I have also heard less than 250 - Any info gratefully received

Not sure how to post pictures but I think you all know what a black GTi looks like these days. The only difference to a stock GTi will the bodykit (as per ED30) and the 5 spoke alloys

Looking forward to joining the forum

Not the best photo in the world as it was taken hurriedly when I got home after collection

This is what I traded in against it - Never owned a car that attracted so much attention

Thanks for the welcome guys,

The more I read old posts the more I am finding out about the car I have bought !!!!

Forgot to mention that it also has an IPOD adaptor in the centre armrest (just need to buy an IPOD now !)

When the weather warms up a bit, I will give it a wash and try and post a pic.

Out of interest, is GTi International being held at Bruntingthorpe this year, I live about 10 miles away

I used to go when it was held at the TRRL in my Mk1 GTi years ago

Great car and welcome along.
Red when clean does get alot of onlookers, i know the feeling.   :happy2:
Dont mind me asking, what did they give for your TT as a trade against the Pirelli?

Phil

I gave the dealer my TT + £500 for the Pirelli

The TT was exactly 2 yrs old with 21k miles on the clock. The Pirelli was on the market for just short of £20k.

I lost about £9k on the TT over 2 years (I went mad with the options on the TT when I bought it !)

I think I got a good deal, second child came along 11 weeks ago so the TT had to go

Yes, the wheels on the TT were one of the many extras I specced - the wheel upgrade alone was £1600 !!!!!!

You only live once

Wigit

The remap on mine was done by my local dealer through their motorsport contact/division. VW will cover all warranty issues and the dealer will pick up warranty issues affected by the remap. Theres confidence for you.

The car is amazinglt fast in real world overtaking situations and really smooth. Smoother in fact than my stock 2.0t TT.
