Post by: maxload on September 02, 2011, 08:55:05 pm
Interested to know if anyone has brought and used these before. Is it a con or do they fit?

Sounds crap mate, sticky backed badges sit proud and will more than likely look

for the front badge buy an unpainted abs plastic one with oem fittings and remove the badge from the rear and paint it satin or gloss to go with the front, thats the best option for the badges imo

I bought one from tmtuning. They don't sell them any longer. But I also bought a spare front upper. So now I have three front badges all painted. With just paint the front badge will chip. So after re-painting , I also sprayed them all with Plasti-dip black. Now they never chip.

BUMP!

I'm looking for a replacement grill badge and rear emblem and also saw the same item on eBay... Do they really look that bad once fitted?  Has anyone actually taken the plunge with these items?

Cheers

Ash

What i did in the end was to remove the rear boot handle (easy job to do) then pop off the badge and spray it. I then carbon wrapped the handle.

The front badge I purchased off ebay here > http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/VW-Golf-MK5-5-V-GT-GTI-Black-Grill-Badge-Emblem-Logo-/220693278131?pt=UK_CarsParts_Vehicles_CarParts_SM&hash=item3362582db3

Ye. I bought the rear one dismantled my boot badge, totally removed the silver vw logo and put to one side, then dismantled the black badge from the sticky backing crap and carefully cut off the clips on the rear of the black one as the clips are differently mounted then bonded it in place. It looked like this. Its a fairly easy job to do. Remove the plastic cover/boot lining. Then you will see 3 torx screws that hold the boot handle in. I also had to remove 2 bolts from the wiper motor so I could get to one of the torx screws.Once removed the boot handle pops out.
Then gently prize the badge off. Carbon wrap the handle and spray the badge  :popcornsoda:
