Title: TDI upgrading to GTI brakes....
Post by: DanBoy on September 05, 2011, 08:20:10 pm
Just a quick question really, I've got an 07 2.0 TDI 140, I've got GTI front and rear calipers, now do I need anything else to fit them other than discs, pads etc. Do I need to change any of the disc sheilds??

Thanks in advance for any help  :happy2:

The front calipers on your car are the same as GTi ones anyway, just not painted red, however they will have the smaller carriers as the discs are a different size.  To change correctly you will need a pair of 312mm discs, caliper carriers to suit this size, and ideally some new pads.  Iirc the shield is big enough or you can bend it slightly to suit.  For the rear you will need everything as above but 288mm discs etc.....

Looking into doing this, just wandering if the rears are vented or solid disks?

Rears are solid.

So the rears are also just a case of getting a larger carrier, or does it require new calipers too.

Also can I buy just the carriers from VW, or do I need to get them from a breakers?

If I remember correctly you just need to change the carriers

Would the calipers off an a4 audi 3.0 quattro  diesel fit straight on as they look very similar to the r32 calipers and carriers
