Hi everyone,
We're back at work now after our week away so we're looking at doing a group buy as a "get to know us" for this forum!
We sell all sorts of car care products and thought we'd get a bit of feedback from everyone before we went ahead and put the offer on... what we need to know is what you guys would be most interested in, for example, would a wash mitt and shampoo be favourite, or would you all prefer a group buy on a tyre dressing, a claying kit or a pot of wax etc.
We're hoping to make this a really good offer for everyone, and we want to make sure it's something that is wanted so suggestions are all welcomed!
Cheers
Taryn and Jim
-
Pot of wax please... :happy2:
VC will also have one of these as he keeps chucking his on the ground...
-
Thanks Wayne - it's been noted!
What would be your number one choice for wax?

Yep - we put Lusso on Sonia's Polo (and the blue one!) :happy2: How's the Polo looking?
VC - it comes out a big lance (great for doing a Rambo impression!!!) and it cleans your car as well - what else do you need to know????
-
Yep - we put Lusso on Sonia's Polo (and the blue one!) :happy2: How's the Polo looking?
Okay, needs a wash though it still looks shiney :happy2: Plus one marked wheel from ATS as the boss picked up a slow puncture, had it repaired and the young lad has caught the wheel, both inside and out and the also the brake caliper... :jumping:

shouldnt this be in the group buy section?
-
Hi JPC,
We have popped this post in the Group Buy section as well - but we're Detailers as well as suppliers of car care products, so thought it might be a good idea to put it in here as well as we're trying to get an idea of what the best offer would be for you guys.
Thanks for the heads up! :happy2:
-
That's a real bummer about Sonia's wheel - have the two of you thought about just having a push bike instead of cars??!!!
-
ok mate, id just be wary of appearing to be spamming mate.

I'd go for a discount on a posh wax.

You use the lance like a gun of course!!
Right - I've got my "professional head" on now... the snow foam we sell is an excellent product - it's pH neutral and clings to the car for a lot longer than any other snow foam we've tried. It lifts the dirt really well and above all it's wax friendly so it doesn't strip anything that you've already put on.
To get the best results you really need a pressure washer and a foam lance, but you can also use the snow foam with a pump sprayer. We sell it in 1 Litre bottles but you only need to use 25 - 50ml per car (or it dilutes 1:25 or 1:15 for really heavily soiled cars with the pump sprayer) so it's a really good value-for-money product. We sell it at £7.50 per litre, but if there's a few people interested we could look at doing the group buy for the snow foam maybe?
:happy2:
-
Can you supply the lances too?

Yep - we can supply the lances too and we can get them with any fitment :happy2:

We've already got Wayne's vote for Supernatural :happy2: What would be second choice for Dodo or is Supernatural the absolute number one?
Looks like there might be two group buys running side by side though! We'll start looking at prices on the lances
-
can you do the dodo selection packs - colour shade dependant?
where's the best place to learn about snow foam? need more info about the benefits of it etc cos i would need the whole lot - washer too
-
Okay, needs a wash though it still looks shiney :happy2: Plus one marked wheel from ATS as the boss picked up a slow puncture, had it repaired and the young lad has caught the wheel, both inside and out and the also the brake caliper... :jumping:
That is a real bummer - They are going to fix the wheel for you aren't they? We're having the same problems with the new car on the way - everyone seems to want to mark ours too so we still haven't got it yet! Should be this Wednesday though :jumping:
-
We do the whole range of Dodo including all of the colour dependant waxes - what colour shade did you have in mind?
With regards to the snow foam - if you are interested in learning more about what you need, I can get Jim to give you a call to talk it all through as he'll probably be a lot more help than me :ashamed: If it's something you want to do straight away Jim can help with advice and which products and pressure washers to use etc., or maybe it's something he could go through with you and show you all of the equipment when we meet up?
Let me know if you want him to call and I'll put it on his to do list for tomorrow :innocent:
-
i've seen small selections packs so for me something to suit both a white car and silver so...erm...light i guess?
as for the washer... deffo like the idea of seeing one in action, thats only a few weeks away now too..
-
Am I thinking of the right ones - Dodo do a Lime and Light Sample Kit and a Lite and Light Sample Kit, which contain either a 200ml bottle of Lime Prime or Lime Prime Light Pre-wax Cleanser and a 30ml Sample pot of both the Light Fantastic and Diamond White waxes?
Because this is quite specific for your requirements it might not suit everyone for a group buy but I'd be more than happy to send you a sample of the two Dodo waxes and a sample of Lusso Oro wax (which we feel is a better performer at that price range, and is an excellent wax as it's suitable for all colours and the durability and gloss you get with it is great) and you can see what you think before you buy anything
-
yeah thats pretty much what i'm on about, already have the lime prime (which i have to fight the urge not to stick a straw in and drink ) i get what you mean about numbers though
would love the samples though mate that would be terrific :happy2:
i bought a nice new wooden tub of Supernatural and it made a bid for freedom onto my then unsurfaced driveway
so waxless atm
-
:surprised: That's shocking - you must be gutted! Have you still got the wax now or have you thrown it away... we might be able to help!
If you PM me a delivery address I'll get the wax samples out to you
If you think the Lime Prime is tempting - wait until you get a whiff of Jim's wax bag!!! I have to fight the temptation to eat the lot!!!

Jim's wax bag is like heaven - only - you can't actually eat any of the waxes, which is kind of terrible because they all smell soooo delicious
If you've still got the wooden pot - you could send it to us and we can try to sort something out to get it refilled... but... you'll want to buy the Lusso after you've tried it - so I'll get the samples out to you!!
-
What would be suitable for diamond black pearl cars?
You've got a few options... if you're after a softwax you could look at the Dodo Juice Purple Haze; if you're after a hard wax you could try the Dodo Juice Blue Velvet; although at this price level the best all-round performer would be the Lusso Oro in terms of durability and gloss; it's extremely easy to apply and it gives a really nice wet look on black.
Our wax of choice is Lusso Oro... we've just bought a black X5 (sorry it's not a VW :ashamed:) which needs a full Detail and we will use Lusso by choice on our own car and we'll post pictures of the Detail and processes etc. later in the week
If you're aiming for a higher price-point, Swissvax Best of Show or maybe Dodo Juice Supernatural would be good options
:happy2:

In a nutshell no as (unusual for me...) I didn;t properly check the wheel before left ATS, but our next door neighbour has offered to refurbish it for us at cost... :happy2: He can also powder coat things too...
Sorry to hear your still having trouble, but only 2 more sleeps....

will give you the tub when you come clean my b1tch then mate nice one :happy2:
will try what you're sending before i commit to a new flavour then
btw
regarding the purple haze, i used that above anything else on my deep blue pearl r32...the finish was simply epic...like liquid with so many levels of flip  recommend it highly
supernatural...never really got the chance to have a good run at it
-
At least you've got someone who can fix it for you :happy2: I've put you on Jim's to do list for tomorrow as he needs to call you regarding your conversation before we went away
We were supposed to collect the car yesterday and when we arrived it wasn't ready - although the sales manager apparently didn't have time to call us to tell us that everything hadn't been done, so now we have to wait until Wednesday - we're both keeping our fingers crossed that we do actually get to bring it home this time as we wait to get to work on it!
The polo looks great! I've got some really good pictures to get on here - just need Jim's help with how to upload them!
-
What about Micro fibres, any sonus drying towels?, HD foam lances and snow foam, Dodo juice stuff, meguiars wheel bright.
oh the list is endless for me.
You should get a stall at GTI International as its only a very small Megs stall there and there stuff is 20% dearer than in the shops :fighting: its a waste of time them being there.
-
What about Micro fibres, Sonus polishing & drying towels?, HD foam lances and snow foam, Dodo juice stuff, meguiars wheel bright. those new Autoglymn applicators?

DJ Buckets inc lids or similar and the usual lambs wool wash mitts and towells. Although i must resist buying more towells

Thanks for the suggestions Keith - they're all noted.
The foam lance and snow foam is looking like the most popular choice at the moment. We have just started stocking the new Autoglym Palm Applicators and Jim's in the process of putting them on the shop as we speak :happy2:
-

Thanks for your ideas CarrG. We stock all of the above so if they become number one with everyone, a group buy won't be a problem at all.
We're just in the process of adding a lot more products to our shop, which includes a whole range of stunning microfibres and towels and we're just finalising our first shipment from America so we'll keep you up to date with when they're due to arrive!
:happy2:

Noted! :happy2:
We're hoping to get a stand at the show this year - just trying to sort everything out

your welcome to have my car on your stand for the 2 days?
will cost you a detail though
-
But we might end up selling your car too!! :signLOL:
-
nah she's only got eyes for me
(plus a feck load of security measures )
-
We might look at having a car on the stand so that Jim can do demo's with the products... if you didn't mind her being waxed all day we could maybe look at sorting something out! :happy2:
-
as nice as it sounds surely a white car wouldn't be the best showcase for the majority of the products?
-
what about machine polishers... if u do them
-

It will be when Jim's had his wax bag at work on it!!
-
what about machine polishers... if u do them
Hi Steve - we've got the Meguiars G220 PC (not on the shop yet, but is being added asap) and we're just confirming supplies of a fantastic machine polisher (the same one that Jim uses) so those will be added to the shop as well as soon as they're available.
Snow foam and lance is looking like number one at the moment, but if there's enough interest, we could look at doing a discount on them for everyone :happy2:
-

I'm using collinite 476s at the mo and it's fantastic for durability, but want something for the summer, when I can wash and wax the car more. Not tried Purple Haze, have heard good things about it as well as supernatural and BOS.
Any samples you can fling my way?
-
We can get a sample of the Lusso Oro out straight away without any problems... we've not got any of the Blue Velvet or Purple Haze sample pots in stock though and Swissvax don't do sample pots, so my thought is... if you're not a million miles away from us we could come and see you and you could do a panel of your car with Jim's waxes to try them out? How does this sound?
If you PM me a delivery address I'll get the Lusso out to you :happy2:
-
cheers for the call guys :happy2: was nice to chat.... even if i did tangent off about cheese sandwich's
will let you know how i get on with the new fudge sweeties food waxes
-
Don't mention it - no one's ever put the "cheese sandwich" theory to us before!!
Look forward to hearing what you think about the samples - they should be with you tomorrow morning :happy2:
-
Did someone mention cheese sandwiches?
Where are you guys based?

Hi Stealthwolf
We are based just outside Stratford upon Avon in Warwickshire but we cover the whole of the Uk so you can find us anywhere somedays :driver:

We're open all hours if need be! What have you got in mind?
I've gotta head up to Brum on Good Friday. It's only a day trip but I'm heading up from Bournemouth. I could stop over on the way up and pop in. But obviously depends on whether you're open or not, plus I have to think about timing.
Was originally gonna head up in the evening (after leaving here around 6pm) to be in Brum for about 9pm, which would mean I'd arrive at yours around 8pm. It's probably too late for you to hang around.
Alternatively, I might do it all twelve hours earlier and be in Brum for around 9am, in which case I could come in, provided you're open?
-
We will be here whichever time you decide to come up.!!! Our office is at home so no bothers there and the coffee machine will be on and it works a treat
It may be better if poss in the morning so we have more light and time? with which to experiment!!!!
-
We will be here whichever time you decide to come up!
Awesome! I'll try going up in the morning but I hate traffic to such an extent, I'd rather drive at night than during the day. In theory, other people should have Good Friday off, so am hoping there's less traffic than usual.
The car won't be clean though - it's done something like 3000 miles since the last detail and will probably do another 500 or so before I come up.
If fate dictates otherwise, I may end up popping round just to pick up samples, run off and do some tests over the easter weekend (lots of time for a full detail before placing an order.
Will let you know in due course.
-
no probs - best if we do get some time then we can try loads here!!!!

-
We've gone with the snow foam and lance... details of what's available are in the Group Buy section
Thanks for everyone's input
-
I have a reflex silver MK5, what wax would you reccomend?
Thanks
-
Hi Big Al,
For Silver you've got a couple of options... Our personal recommendation would be Lusso Oro - in terms of ease of use, value for money and the results achieved, in our opinion this is the best wax available.
You've also got a couple of options with Dodo Juice - either Diamond White or Light Fantastic are the colour charged waxes for Silver and White cars. Diamond White is the hard wax, so in principal will give slightly more durabitlity, and Light Fantastic is the soft wax, which in principal gives a more glossy look. Having said that, these two waxes are both good performing waxes and the differences between the two won't be that noticable.
If your budget allows, you could also look at Dodo Juice Supernatural, which is their higher end wax and works well on light colours, as well as providing slightly more durability.
Sorry we haven't been more specific with our answer! Wax choice depends a lot on personal preference really, but any of the four above would be a good choice for you.
Hope this helps
Taryn and Jim :happy2:
-
Hiya guys.
As your dispensing free advice what would you recommend for a tornado red? Can I really expect a huge difference in shine from an expensive wax too or is more to do with longevity?
Cheers.
-
Hi Boothmeister
For Tornado Red there are a number of waxes that you can choose from. Our personal recommendation would be Lusso Oro as we feel that this wax performs excellently on all coloured cars, it's incredibly easy to use and it's a great value for money product.
There are also a number of Dodo Juice waxes that would be good choices... The two generic waxes, Hard Candy and Rainforest Rub would be good options for Red, or the two colour charged waxes are Banana Armour and Orange Crush. If your budget allows, you could consider Dodo Juice Supernatural.
If you were to go for a higher end wax the main difference you will notice is the durability. You tend to get protection for longer, meaning you have to reapply wax less often when using a more expensive wax, and of course with some of them the overall depth of gloss and shine will be noticably different. However, having said that, there are a number of waxes on the market at the moment that are within a reasonable price range and provide excellent results... most of which we've mentioned above
Apologies for not giving a very specific answer... as we've said many times, wax choice really comes down to personal preference a lot. If you're looking for a wax that you can apply once and not have to reapply for a good six months or so, then you really need to be looking at something like Swissvax Mystery or Divine, however, if you're more interested in an easy to use wax that you can get out and reapply once a month or so, then any of the above would be excellent choices.
Hope this helps
Taryn and Jim :happy2:
-
Cheers chaps! :happy2:
