Title: Getting the MOST from the RNS510
Post by: Johnny_tro on September 05, 2011, 09:24:21 pm
I noticed a comment online earlier -

"you just need to use a good set of speakers and a decent amp. Use a line lock out and a remote wire to an ignition live and your good to go"

I'm fairly happy with the sound from my RNS510, for what it is I think it plays a good sound. From those that have been there before, what is the way to get the BEST from it? and what does the above mean?

1) Insulation the doors < something like dynamat (is there a version the same but without the branding £ tag ?)
2) Does it reallt need an amp?
3) obviously upgrade the speakers
4) would you replace all the wiring to? and would this just be unit to speakers? or EVERYTHING?
5) Anything else? and what is a line lock out?

I upgraded the front speakers and added a small amp which made a massive difference to the sound

Focal Polyglass 165 VR3's and Blaupunkt THA475 Amp which takes the speaker level input from the RNS through a plug n play harness to the amp and then back using the standard speaker wiring to the new crossovers

I assume the line lock out is meant to read line level converter as the RNS doesn't do line level out only speaker level
