Recently landed a new job at Airbus in Chester which means a 100mile round trip, not what I had in mind when I bought and modded the S3 let alone the petrol bill, although the old girl has been doin 400miles to a tank which aint bad for a stg2+ car me thinks.
Been looking for a cheap oil burner for a couple of months, and have always fancied a mk4 Golf/Bora, I was shocked at the amount of scrap cars out there being advertised as mint, after driving hundreds of miles I was starting to loose faith and look at Fords, Saabs and even Vauxhalls
Each night when I walk the dog I walk past a tidy Bora and have commented to the other half that it would be perfect and they need to sell it to me, low and behold a for sale sign appeared on it today and now its mine. Really tidy 2002 car, 130TDi, 85K and FSH, drives really well and I'm very impressed how well it goes :happy2:
pics to follow when its had a scrub if anyone is interested lol

cheers fellas, I've felt like I've bin killing the S3 trudging up and down the M56, although its took everythin in its stride, but its already cost a windscreen, so the Bora is gonna be put to work from Monday :happy2:
-
:congrats:

let the subtle modding commence :popcornsoda:
-
cheers John,
absolutely no modding, haven't even looked on the bay for some wheels or anythin lol
-

and dont knock the ford :signLOL: well too much haha
-
That sort of journey will wreck your Audi over time with stone chips etc
Boras a good choice
-
Glad you found something eventually pal!
-
Nice choice, great engine's - can be quite ecomonical. When you getting it mapped
Wife ran the mapped Mk4 Anni TDI which was simliar engine - MPG is great for the power, slow trudge over to Skeggy (slow 50mph roads and not much over taking chances) saw 59.8MPG!
-
must resist the urge to map, most resist the urge to map
just bin and got some rear disks for it 12.50 each, can't see me getting S3 ones for that
-
Well done Gaz on the new run about...now get it on its arse and some 20"
spiners alloys :signLOL:
Darren :happy2:

A remap will make it more powerful economical though Gaz
-
you lot aren't helping, had a day cleaning it and its come up really well, the interior is like brand new. Pictures to follow

Thanx, but it wasn't that clean when I got it, took a day and a half to clean the mould from the door/boot shuts etc but I'm really pleased how its turned out, 62.5mpg on a 100mile round trip ain't to be sniffed at either :happy2:
-
May as well make it look good if your driving it matey! :happy2: :innocent:

Thanks Nath! Was a 2002 130PD Sport with the ultra rare Leather/Alcantara factory option, i miss it dearly even now! :sad1:
Mostly OEM mods apart from the Milltek and Eibach dampers/springs, far too much £££ spent on R32 trim though

Sadly after trade in it was bought by a mobile DJ who fitted a towbar to drag his gear around with, it's still local but luckily i've not seen it personally as last time it was spotted by a friend it was scratched and filthy with the owner and his wife smoking away inside...

Excellent times mate! Greatly missed tbh!

Bit of an update, I've resisted the urge to slap on some CH reps, lower it and map it but only just. The old Bora has done me proud, put a cambelt on it just to be sure, but the best bit
