Here's the problem people. Bought the car recently and last owners put budget tyres on the front to get it through the MOT. Needed to change the rears so got that done the other day and whilst they were doing it I got them to put the budget on the back and my new tyres on the front. Normally when I filled up the tank the mileage would read just over 400 miles and since all the wheels have been moved about the mileage doesn't read any higher than 355?? I noticed that when I pulled out the garage aswell that it read I had less miles to go then when I pulled in?? Any ideas on this peeps, strange one? Cheers guys

Your range (miles to empty) goes off your avg fuel consumption.
Just a theory - if your car has Been driven hard it will lower your avg And lower your range
-
yeah cheers bud, doesn't make sense though how it went in with more on the clock and out with less??

Just a tip, its much better to have the tyres with the most tread on the rear of a front wheel drive car. :happy2:

Yeah i did get told this mate but I couldn't stand the road noise I was getting from the budget crap! Feels so much better now

+1
Easier to control understeer than oversteer :happy2:

If they fitted tyres using a jack then the fuel will shift to one side of the tank and it will move the gauge sender wich will give you a different reading

Cheers Jack but it was on a lift? This gauge sender is it not fixed in the tank then?? Can it move?? I no nothing!!!

Yes it's on the pump in the tank, it's strange that it's Happened especially if it was on a lift!

Easy fix mate or nightmare? My misses dad is a mechanic so hopefully he can sort it????

I'd say it's ok to be honest? Has the level/readings gone back up? I'm sure there will be a reason as to why it's happend

Nah haven't gone up, I know I can get 380 out of a tank so its annoying that it will read 0 miles when there is still fuel left, will have to get him to take a look!

If they left the car running for a period of time or if someone took it out and thrashed it it would send your expected down... or am i missing something here...
