Afternoon Folks,
After trying to figure out the mystery of why the handle of my oil filer cap wasn't sat at 9-3 oc'lock, i removed the engine cover to have a look at the oil filler extension tube, i noticed when a removed the air hose from the MAF, the seal looked a bit knackered:

I think its a no brainer that it needs to be replaced, if this seal was leaking air, what would the symptoms be?
Does anybody know the name of this seal and if it can be ordered on its own?
As always, thanks in advance for your help peeps :happy2:

There is nothing listed on ETKA, I might have a spare turbo connecting hose with one of these in the garage, I will have a look later.
-
I had to replace one on my Ed when I first bought it. I seem to remember it came as part of the hose. Crazy I know.
I would try and re-use it in the meanwhile, you can't make it any worse.

Steve, that would be fantastic. Cheers :happy2:

Ive just seen a diagram and you're right, it's part of the hose assembly - its strange as VAG normally have rubber seals listed seperately for most other bits
-
iirc gazbutS3 had lost that rubber and, like you said, had to get the hose assembly.
Seeing that he's got an ITG intake now, it may be an idea to PM him to ask if he still has his old hose.

Just revisiting an old thread.
Ive not had luck sourcing a replacement seal. Any chance anyone ETKA can give me the part number and name of the hose in question? Its the one with the 2 metal clamps at the end that plugs into the MAF.
Thanks

The intake pipe is 06F 129 627 H for the K04 car that includes the take off port for the DV.
-
The oil filler cap is in 2 pieces, if you split it you should be able to see how it goes together, I had the same problem with mine and it's all sorted now.

Hi Guys,
Just bumping up a very old thread of which i still cant get to the bottom of.
Im still trying to source the rubber seal that is part of the air intake hose/pipe (Part number 06F 129 627 H) which clips into the MAF - this is an ED30 BYD engine by the way.
One member did manage to find a replacement seal and posted up details (i think it was within the last 18 months) - can i find the post? can i hell!!! The search function not working doesn't help either!
Can anyone point me in the right direction?
Thanks
Rich

Hi Richtung,
not sure what's left of your seal, or whether anyone else with a good seal could assist.. but could it be worth taking yours off, measuring thickness and diameter and trying to source an O ring off the net? otherwise, a second hand pipe with a good enough seal, or even a new pipe complete with a new seal might be your only option. This is of course assuming.. that even years down the line you still cannot buy/source the seal separately.

Hi Muff,
As a last resort, i'll measure the O ring like you say. Annoyingly, a member did post up the dimensions previously.
Even more annoyingly is that you cannot get the seal on its own from VW and like you say, have to fork out for the complete pipe. Well done VW :happy2:

yeah, its a shame the search isn't working! and VW is so annoying when they do things like this!
I'm sure, someone somewhere would have a spare hose with the seal on. especially with the amount of people who have intake kits. I hope you find one ok, if not O ring it is! good luck mate.

Maf O ring is 70mm ID x 6 mm.

It was probably me who posted the seal details
I can't remember the O ring size, or where I got them from! It was a while ago as you say. I measured the old seal with digital calipers and got all sorts of varying thicknesses (worn out basically!), so I took a punt on a size and it worked out perfectly.
The good news is I bought about 10 of them I think, so PM me your address and I'll send you one. In the meantime I will try and find my old post with the dimensions.
