Although i have been thinking about wrapping my rear badge/handle, i was wondering if i would be able to get a rattle can in reflex silver from vw? anyone know, or even better, a part number if such a thing exists for this type of item? i only say that as i had to argue with the vw parts guy who told me the front badge only comes with the whole grille!!!...needless to say he ate humble pie! :ashamed:

Paint sets are available for all VW vehicles. Whilst I haven't got a part number to hand, Reflex Silver is readily available and comes as a two-part set of base coat and lacquer top coat. I've ordered loads and had great results with them over the years. Best to give the dealer your chassis number to ensure they order the correct colour.
Hope this helps.

yep they do i pick up my one tomorrow 16 quid mate, takes a day or two to be delivered. They did it off my reg, and the guy was flapping i hope he got me the right one, as i kept having to look at the screen and show him things when getting prices for parts.

If not try popping to any good paint shop should be able to make you a can up. I know a place in bham does them for about £8 for rattle can.
-
thanks guys...all good replies there. i shall pop down to vw on saturday and see if they have them in stock.
on a related note...anyone seen a reflex silver gti with the handle/emblem done in body colour, or have a link at all please? am waivering as to which way to go with this.
-
I've seen one in the grey. Looked good. I did mine black and unsure about it think i may try get it done candy white to match car when i get rear bumper sprayed.
-
if you do that, are you going to do the emblem and handle part so it's all white? that's maybe the way i am probably going to go as i think black may be too stark on my debadged rear end!
-
I'm thinking of doin the same with mine but Im not gonna get the paint until I can source a badge as I havent got £100 to get one from the stealers.
I've seen a few done body colour and it does look good.
-
£100! my confidence just took a dip with you saying that...i aint sprayed anything since i made a bad job of my bmx 25 years ago!
any links/photos to ones you have seen at all?
-
Yep its £100.81 (http://www.mk5golfgti.co.uk/forum/index.php/topic,34708.msg422550.html#msg422550)
I can't remember where I've seen them now, but I know it has been done and does look good

yikes! guess i better start looking for rattle can tutorials in that case! i do have the badge from the front grille to practice on. would these things need rubbing down to allow the base coat to key in or is that not required these days? the actual paint can...daft question warning...do they come in metallic colours to match the bodywork? and lastly...is the lacquer mixed in with the paint? pretty much showing myself up as a complete novice here :ashamed:
-
i did mine last week wiv vw reflex silver i removed the VW badge rubbed the black backing a lil so the paint had a surface 2 cling 2 sprayed 2 layers of plastic primer then 2 layers of silver followed by 2 layers of clear coat and this is how it came out
