Title: GTI airbox
Post by: Black9 on September 14, 2011, 04:56:33 pm
Mines has the small flap missing on the end of it, also not sure if there's meant to be another small flap on the bottom of the air box as this is also missing

Could either of these gaps let harmful dirt particles into the engine and also is the air filter located in the bottom air box or further up towards the engine cover!?
 :happy2:

To avoid confusion, could you post a pic highlighting what you think is amiss as I'm not sure what you're looking at.

Shouldn't cause an issue, as there is still the pollen filter and then a tightly weaved mesh grille before the end of the air intake.
Don't think that it makes much difference in terms of the amount of air that gets in with it either.

Yea I really should post up a pic but I can't ATM as I'm using an iPad. For the time being tho the bit that's missing is on the top & bottom of the air box. The air box is what the plastic tube connects to and attaches to the front grille via 2 bolts.
