Hi All
Driving home on the M60 today (6:40 ish near Prestwich)
Moved over and two Black A3 flew past nose to tail with blues & twos.
Dunno if anyone else saw them but the speed and distance between them was quite impressive/dangerous.
-
They may not be normal plod! dont get two excited! A lot of specialist units use these!

They don't get taught to drive like that though!
-
Yes they do!!
-
I can assure you no driving course that the police, or other "specialist" units, do teaches them to drive a car nose to tail at high speed
-
Ive done those courses and they push you to drive at what ever the 530d can do! What they do after the course is up to them!
-
So have i, as well as few you won't have done, and they never teach two cars to drive nose to tail at high speed. The following car could not react in time to sudden changes in direction, obstacle avoidance or braking no matter who the driver is.
-
Like i said, they dont teach you to drive like that but what they do after the course is up to them! Im sure we all have a few habits! :happy2:
-
True we all do
But you did say they got taught that. Have a look at my first reply followed by yours :P
Anyway nit picking aside have you been taught a SMEE?
-
Your right, I didnt read the nose to tail part initially! I was taught by the Met at Hendon.
-
Do these courses make you faster drivers?
-
Do these courses make you faster drivers?
perhaps a more aware and alert driver? But surely adds to potentially going a little bit faster too?

Any one can drive a car fast. Just look at all the dickheads the police chase. It's being able to do so with a high degree of control and being able to regain control of the car if you start to lose it. The courses teach you to be alert to what is going on around you whilst maintaining a vehicle safely at high speed, how to spot potential hazards etc and how to react should the vehicle start to breakaway.
-
They used to be tvcu (like the tv series) .. Have a couple of s3 sportbacks amongst other cars , what a job!!
-
Unmarked black sporty Seat Ibiza,Did,nt see a badge (FR?).. Anyway pulled a kid in Doncaster, blues in rear window and front.Copper was wearing a baseball cap.Just imagined the kid seeing that in his rear mirror, baseball cap wearing driver in a sporty ibiza..Unleash the beans... :driver: NICKED!
-
Im sure I saw an episode of police camera action where there was an unmarked silver MK5 R32 patroling the A1... You would never know it was police :popcornsoda:
-
Just watched the news and watched an ed30 58 plate with light on the roof pull out of the site the minors are trapped at. Hope they all get out ok

You mean anyone can drive a car fast in a straight line.
So basic car control and awareness is what they teach then, and nothing that most enthusiast car drivers dont already do
I know you dont, but some coppers who have had this training, seem to think it makes them into a driving god
You get it a few times at karting open events, after the event having being lapped once or twice they will have been bought down a peg or two back to reality :signLOL:

Was it silver? If so that's one of my neighbours and he's in the Fire service :happy2:
Down here the police used to have EVO 8's :driver: Not sure what they have now but I think they're Audi's of some description

If you think your doing it already, next time you go out with a passenger try and give them a running commentary of the list below whilst every so often they read out a pre prepared radio message that you have to listen to, remember and obey any commands (think - closing to join a pursuit and your listening for where the target vehicle is currently and where it's heading to)
Your speed
Direction
Road Conditions
Pedestrains
Other traffic
Identify Hazards
Name of road your on
I fully agree though that you get the odd one or two that think they are the next Lewis Hamilton. As with any course, they teach you pass the course by meeting the required standard. Skill comes with experience and driving on a track is completely different to driving fast on a road.

Ok that makes things a bit more difficult, I reckon I could do ok though with a little practice.
-
When i did my course i used to feel mentally drained after every day as there is a lot to take in.
But as with anything it just takes practice. It then becomes more natural and your driving and commentary start to flow better. Why don't you try an advanced driving test? You might be surprised at what you will learn (if you haven't done any lessons before)

Theres also a unmarked dark blue Land Rover Discovery hunting people on the M18 the past few days seem him with people pulled over and hidden blues on
-
i saw a dark colour mk5 r32 last week with blues and twos on, on m42
looked cool. it was too quick but i wanted to get a picture
-
They have a black one and a gun metal grey one that has a white Motorsport sticker on the back that operate around the M6/M6 Toll/M5/M42 area

Saw that bugger a while ago.
-
warwickshire police have loads. Ive seen scooby, evo 10, r32, focus st. Even seen unmarked Zafira the other day lol.
-
audi a4 estate too in dark blue on the m6
-
Bear in mind there are loads of unmarked cars out there being used by squads and the like + Ambulance service, BASICS doctors, Fire brigade, etc.
I drive an unmarked 530d traffic car ... but am plain clothes within traffic and not in the least bit interested in doing someone for speeding ... I deal with fatal collisions ... and sadly am kept quite busy .... so the person writing down my registration whilst I was grabbing a coffee in a petrol station was wasting their time

I believe these are the very two!
