Hi All
Just wondered if anyone had heard of the DSG limiting the output when remapping?
-
Yes but the torque limit is normally removed as part of the remap. This was the case on the early versions of the Superchips map for the Edition 30 :happy2:
-
Tell me more pls...
-
thats what they told me as well! Not sure im that happy with SC though! thats for another thread though hah

Hi All
Just wondered if anyone had heard of the DSG limiting the output when remapping?
Yes, theres an additional set of limiters that need raising. Had this issue with a car belonging to a member on here recently whilst mapping it. My binary editing software (winols) didnt find the map so took a while to resolve but its a simple fix when you find the correct map address.
-
I sooooo need to take mine to get it mapped properly!
-
So it's an ECU perameter not a dsg map???
-
Correct.
-
I had this occur on shark and PDT map, both limited the torque to 280lb/ft. shark managed to get around it in the end, but only up to 330bhp. Once I had the Revo DSG map installed, this went straight up to 350lb/ft.
I also add that the Revo stage 2+ went straight to 350lb/ft, and the bluefin stage 3 went to around 315lb/ft without the Revo dsg map :happy2:
The way it was explained to me was that the ecu tells the DSG what torque it is producing, so the map intercepts this value and tells the dsg a fake reading etc etc, dont know if its true, but its what I was told at the time

Hey guys, I have an ED30 DSG, does anyone know if theRevo Stage 1 map removes the Torque limter mentioned in this thread?
-
Is this the same for the mk5.5 (6)
Would like to get mine up to full fat

It will depend on the tuner, again with superchips I believe the torque limit is in place but not with the Revo.

Here are some examples:
shark performance stage 3 without revo dsg software - torque limiters in map

Same shark stage 3 remap as above, but with REVo dsg software

Interesting, so without the revo dsg map the torque limiters are still in place when only the ecu has the revo stage one map??
-
No. As said previously, tuners can change the engine map so torque limiters aren't in place. As stated, revo, superchips, shark, and pdt now can bypass the limiters with the ecu remap.
The revo dsg map doesn't just change torque limiters, it changes shift times, launch control, rev limits, stops auto shift up and down in manual mode.
-
Sorry mate, misread it on my phone. I am just hunting for the power or torque i feel is missing from my car and hoped this was the key
-
Have you had it on a rolling road yet chris to see what it is actually putting out?
-
I've had it logged quite a bit but just not had the chance to get it over to Dave on his rolling road yet. With the new plugs and coils my timing advance doesn't go above 3 now so happy with that. I know your suggestion is right though
-
Timing advance or timing pull?
-
You are correct, I was timing pull I meant to type not advance, either way where was showing upto +7 degrees it is never higher than +3.5 [and that is only vey briefly]. All other metrics seenm Ok too, Boost is spot on, etc
-
do you know if load values were as expected? got a copy of the graphs?
-
Can't remember exactly but everything checked was as it should be mate... when i get the chance i will get some time.on your.rr
-
Was it only plugs and coilpacks you changed to get that timing pull down?
-
Evening guys, old thread revival!
Can anyone with any revo contacts or advice help me out here please.
I have revo stage 2+ (k03) and since the map was loaded I have had issues, firstly was the low torque figure (288ftlbs) but more worryingly was the issue once going form 3rd to 4th gear there is a delay or lag as such before the power comes back in again. The dealer after me complaining about it logged the car and said everything logged fine, but that the mechatronics was becoming 'lazy' and was on its way out. So after many months (april till august, long story) i had it replaced. Guess what, still the same. He is now persisting on me having the dsg mapped to cure the issue as he is now telling me the dsg cannot keep up and that is what the delay is. I have already queried on whether the torque limits have been removed on the file and he has said there is no adjustment besides timing, boost and fuel and the file is ready direct from revo and it definately is the correct file. I have told him that i want a second opinion and he has said that one of the file developers from revo are due in mid september and that i can ask him, but he will tell me the exact same.
Info on car
K03
70k (full documented history)
new rev g dv
new pcv
bcs sport turbo back powervalve with 200cel cat
revo intake
autotec fuel pump internals
airtec intercooler
ngk iridium plugs
ran on shell v power or tesco momentum 99 always.
Can anyone shed any light on whether I am in the right to be persueing this, or is it for definate that I need to have the dsg remapped? If i need to have the dsg mapped, can anyone tell me if there is a difference in torque limits from vw on a k03 to a k04?
Thanks in advance
-
Sorry to be a pest, but does anyone have any suggestions?
-
Just incase anyone is interested, route cause was found by another tuner and proven with logging the car that the throttle was being closed by the software. Revo dealer was unable to find this
-
So did you end up having the DSG mapped somewhere else or just the stage 2 sorted by a different mapper?
-
Why was the software causing the throttke to shut? Very weird

No, there was no need to put a dsg map on, as the car is no where near hitting torque limiters. The problem was resolved with different software
-

They tried to find that out but couldn't. Reckon either the software was set for a manual car rather than dsg, or possibly just a glitch. On checking actual values, it was going from 100% to 40% on gear changes, which was causing the issue. We found it very weird too
