Title: A proper newby hello this time
Post by: jedi-knight83 on September 17, 2011, 03:47:26 pm
Right.. apologies for the shameless thread before... needed to quickly get enough posts to contact about a car.. so hopefully I'll have a GTi sooner than i thought.

Anyway... until then.. Im Nathan. 28 now. Big petrol head and I'm lucky to work with some of the most exotic cars in the world day to day. www.cambridgeautogleam.com (please delete this link if its deemed to be advertising... Im not here to advertise, I'm here as I want a GTi)

My previous car history goes a little like this..

Age 17.. passed test.. got a Honda CRX MK2 16v. Had it fully resprayed to milano red (same as the civic type R) Lovely little thing.. if you could cope with continually chasing the rust!

Age 19... was getting a bit bored of the go kart feeling so bought a VW Corrado VR6. Had a few bits colour coded, lowered, Miltek exhaust, Shrick inlet manifold.

(https://www.mk5golfgti.co.uk/forum/proxy.php?request=http%3A%2F%2Fdaz.co%2Fmedia%2FCar_Stuff%2FCorrado%2Fjedi-knight83corrado2Large-1.jpg&hash=25f36ee9b60033de79e4748149169b5fdc1edb73)

Age 21... realised it was much cheaper to insure an Audi S3 than the Corrado so got a nice Nogaro Blue 2001 S3.

... which was a brilliant car... right up until this happened. American guy pulled out without looking my way!

(https://www.mk5golfgti.co.uk/forum/proxy.php?request=http%3A%2F%2Fdaz.co%2Fmedia%2FCar_Stuff%2FS3%2FDSCF5116-1.jpg&hash=7884a076605fff026b3af85ff3d4c91d425d54a6)

The S3 was so good that I just went and bought another one with the insurance money. This time a fully loaded one. Only option it didn't have was the crappy audi satnav.

Age 25... Sold the S3 and picked up a nice BMW M3 SMG. Stunning car but unfortunately I bought it just at the wrong time just before the prices crashed and the recession hit.

(https://www.mk5golfgti.co.uk/forum/proxy.php?request=http%3A%2F%2Fdaz.co%2Fmedia%2Fjedi-knight83%2FCar_Stuff%2FHDR3copy-1.jpg&hash=ac7c9baed8f5f7db7a691fe35e2dab86df67707e)

(https://www.mk5golfgti.co.uk/forum/proxy.php?request=http%3A%2F%2Fdaz.co%2Fmedia%2Fjedi-knight83%2FCar_Stuff%2FHDR7copy-1.jpg&hash=8b5c357c050c6d072e8bddc471cf1585c77080dd)

Then had to sell the M3 and make some cuts.... ended up just using my 2006 VW Caddy as my everyday car which now looks like this...

(https://www.mk5golfgti.co.uk/forum/proxy.php?request=http%3A%2F%2Fdaz.co%2Fmedia%2FCar_Stuff%2FCaddy%2FIMG_1927.jpg&hash=2c0b5dd5743f43188c62511fa92a6fb410b78205)

Now I was after a 2005-2006 3dr grey or silver GTi or even a well priced Edition30.
Wanted:
xenons
DSG
parking sensors

But like I said.. Have now seen a great deal on a red one so who knows... watch this space.

Thanks for now..

Nathan

Thanks..

Yeah ed30 would be great... but for the money this one I've found would be ideal and a good candidate for a turbo, injector, fuel pump etc upgrade in the future.

Hi Nathan...have to approve of the mk2 CRX...i had one many many years ago...lovely car...baby NSX inside.  i also had a VR6 that had been highly modded, although it was in a MK3 golf...which is the car i miss most out of all my cars, even my mk1 gti.

The two S3's look lovely.

The M3 is stunning - CSL wheels and black kidney grills? Superb  :happy2:

Glad you've jumped into a Mk5 GTI. Welcome

Fantastic looking Golf mate, and that was some crash in the S3!

Shame you've not still got the Corrado as they're going up in price recently.

Yeah that was a great car... not seen current prices but I bought mine at £4k a week before that old top gear article and sold it a couple of years later for £6500 :)
