Title: DanishmkVGTI's new daily/project number 2
Post by: danishmkvgti on September 18, 2011, 09:12:48 am
Well, i'll better follow in the footsteps of SteveP and TC and get a car number 2.
After much consideration and getting the missus to give up a new Toyota Aygo i ended up with this:

VW Touran 2006 2.0 TDI Van
Booked for REVO this week and some parts allready planned  :innocent:

Without Seat inserts it's nothing  :P

Nice buy, would like an Altea or Touran daily for the missus to use  :sad1:

REVO now on the car and the missus for a test drive. Also took time to change from 206/65 something 16" steel to the Audi split 19" with the 235/35-19" Mich PSS. Suddenly it grips the road.
How do people get along with the standard tyre choice on those cars beats me  :stupid:
While typing the wife rang and accepted both rim/tyres and REVO. But the standard H7 headlights got the thumbs down as she is used to the GTI's xenons, so off to ebay i go  :rolleye:

Pictures to come after a RR day saturday with some fellow REVO guys  :jumpmove:

Good choice Jake!  :happy2:

Yes we have some strange laws and regulations in this country. basically you can remove the rear seats of most vehicles and get them registred as a van saving a lot of the cars registertax (best word for it), almost 90% of rocco's in denmark are vans, Cupra's as well  :stupid:

Hi Darren,  Ours has the AUX. heater so thx. I'm not sure what parts would fit our LHD, but if it's a Highline some parts could be interesting as ours is just a trendline.

Well not much has happened the last couple of weeks, exept for me getting parts together for a little makeover. First i have found out that i can fit some TT-RS dampers along with FK lowering springs. Also i have a 729B BT kit to have fitted.
My old 312mm GTI front brakes will be fitted and maybe some S3 alloy front lower control arms and S3 alloy hubs  :jumping:  :jumpmove:
A derv doesn't need to be boring IMO

As i have just recieved some TT hubs for the Golf from DaveB  :notworthy:
I will be able to fit the Tarox 10 pots on the golf making my Front R32 brakes redundant on the golf and i can fit them to the Touran

Also getting some 18" winter tyres which will go on my silver set TD PR2 and the on Touran  :jumpmove:

Title: Re: DanishmkVGTI's new daily/project number 2
Post by: danishmkvgti on February 20, 2012, 04:52:42 pm
Well, i have almost gotten all the planned part sfitted to the Thyra as the wife calls it

TT-RS dampers fitted with FK lowering springs as the TT-RS springs is very low compared with the original springs

Front Springs: High spring is stock, red is FK, Low is TT-RS

(https://www.mk5golfgti.co.uk/forum/proxy.php?request=http%3A%2F%2Fi715.photobucket.com%2Falbums%2Fww160%2Fjakethemoss%2FIMG_3715.jpg&hash=23e53977a22742d11a5c2d1ea70f771743ac901a)

Rear springs: High is stock, short is TT-RS

(https://www.mk5golfgti.co.uk/forum/proxy.php?request=http%3A%2F%2Fi715.photobucket.com%2Falbums%2Fww160%2Fjakethemoss%2FIMG_3711.jpg&hash=94f3752b3e65f744b8eb21a61b0dfad041531fd9)

Also cut a corner as the R32 brakes isn't available yet, still on the Golf, so i only fitted the GTI discs front and rear along with the caliper carriers, so no need for bleeding brakes until i change up front.

(https://www.mk5golfgti.co.uk/forum/proxy.php?request=http%3A%2F%2Fi715.photobucket.com%2Falbums%2Fww160%2Fjakethemoss%2FIMG_3708.jpg&hash=020859d595fc9c56a260f8054932073937308186)

Also as we had to work on the front we also fitted the Cupra/S3 front lower control arms including the rear bushings and Cupra/S3 Hubs. And as it got a 4 wheel alignment i was confirmed in that the S3 hubs ads app. 3mm wider track up front.

(https://www.mk5golfgti.co.uk/forum/proxy.php?request=http%3A%2F%2Fi715.photobucket.com%2Falbums%2Fww160%2Fjakethemoss%2FIMG_3714.jpg&hash=72c2376b27b2533478fe7ca7c3459ceeb07c4c41)

Now the car almost is a joy to drive, it actually turns in the direction indicated by me and is very flat around roundabouts. Even the Missus has given it her seal of approval  :notworthy:  :signLOL:

I would love to let you have a go at the Touran and some extra small mods on the Golf Darren, maybe we should combine it with a tour around Denmark as we have 6 available seats in total in the Touran and Golf.  :drinking:

Here's some shots of the parts recieved so far

OPS

I also have recieved the wiring for heightadjustment, but i forgot the adaptors for the headlights so package number 2 is on the way from Kufatec.  :ashamed:

As i plan to do the Darkside EGT delete, my software is altered to allow the SPS to change between EGT on or off, making it easier in a MOT situation to put it on and make the software recognize it, thx Marc  :notworthy:

Right, today saw me off to the garage to get the TT_RS springs fitted to the car, suddenly the car wouldn't drive anymore, no Faults was thrown  but there was an unmistakenly smell of burnt oil, so at the garage the suspision was confirmed, turbineblades in the intake and a broken shaft in the turbo so tuesday a new turbo will be ordered
On the bright side i have just recieved the Darkside egr delete, so do anyone here have a DIY for the fitment of this kit?

Those in the top of the picture, they should have something to do with the aux. heater.

Looks a lot better than the tiny 312mm from the GTI it had fitted before IMO  :happy2:

The TT-RS springs are now fitted to the TT-RS dampers and i must say they suit the ride well. Nice and smooth and still hold the car in a firm grip.
Also got the poor Hancook tyres replaced with Michelin Pilot Sport 3, that also transformed the ride due to the amount of tyre noise generated by the worn Hancooks.

Ride height with TT-RS springs, not that low really

I'm still awaiting a set of red R32 rear calipers unfortunately  :sad1:

Finally got a new gearknob for the touran, need to be modified as it's not a straight swap from the Golf mk 5 to the Touran, but looks great, thx Deacon  :drinking:

Finally got to fit the autolevelling for the Xenon headlamps.
Also got a set of S3 rear 310mm brakes from Jon TFSI  :drinking: that i fitted with a set of Mintex from DaveB  :drinking:
It really do make a difference when matched with the 345mm front setup, car seems more balanced when hard on the brakes

Now i'm on the lookout for the painted part of the S3 front setup to swap with the red ones DaveB has supplied
