Looks like they have changed the design of the back box tail pipes, they are now adjustable, so if your into sticky out pipes, then you can have them as long as you like, or tucked away abit better that ive just done..
Didnt plump for the shallower back box, as im happy with my large rear :chicken:

Ooh exciting
Thats another variant on the revised one I have fitted on mine
-
I would've thought all new Millteks now would have the shallow back box.
Did they change the whole cat back under warranty or just your cracked pipes?
-
The bolt on tips are probably to allow for easier changing when they fail.

The back box Mandy .. and i can see why making the tips seperatly is better for something that has lifetime warranty... rather expensive to change complete back box assemblys when all thats wrong is an over pedantic customer worried about a hairline crack in his exhaust

Steve is this a brand new system? I only ask as i was looking at getting a R32 rear valance and milly backbox to match but when i asked about the tips in your picture they said they dont come in a slash cut only with the rolled in tips like i have now on my GTI milly tips now
I wanted the polished inside of the tips like yours and not the honeycombe kinda finish i have in mine
Thanks in advance for any advice
Dave

They do an r32 slash cut design, as a few ex r32 owners on here have had them, but whether the latest revision with the bolt on tips has been done , i dont know.
how much is a miltek these days?
Full system is around £1100, cat back system is around £550+ not 100% sure.

The finish you refer to is GT100 on the R32 back box and the Ed30 tails are called GT80's.

miltek have lifetime warranties
-
Heavyd - that is pretty straightforward to repair.
Jim at JKM did mine as they cracked and it looked as good as new when he finished.

Did they just weld them hedge? sounds good to me
miltek have lifetime warranties
Not when you buy them 2nd hand they dont :sad1:
-
Yup welded. The actual tails are 2 concentric pipes that are filled smoothed and polished.
-
They look nice. Are they much bigger than the OEM pipes?
Is it much louder too?

I would probably cut them off, and get some of the removable types. But the bottom line is they should not crack. I think the profile makes the weld area very thin and brittle.
-
What benefit does the shallower back box give? Can the normal one be seen from behind the car?
-
The Backbox on my Ed30 can be seen by about 20% showing below the rear bumper on the ed30, not alot but some people are more fussy, and prefer not to see it.
Im a bit of a magpie and like shiny things on show...i would safely say there would be zero difference in performance over the shallow version.Perhaps less air drag under the car for Race variants...
I will post a pic if you want later..

Thats caused by having 1003mb of boost at idle

Oooh yes please shallow and normal pics anyone?
-
Thought i had seen a few R32's with slash cut milly's on but when i rang AMD for a price and to see if i could get that style they said milltek only do rolled tips now on their systems
My current non-res milly system has the big back box and i'd prefer a shallower box or even go for the blue flame version which doesn't have one
Other option apparently is to get just the tips for about £60~ and get them bolted onto my current system......... :rolleye:
-
Mine has the new changeable tip system too....going to try a set of polished GT100's on mine after Combe just to see how it changes the arse end look :signLOL:

Thats how dealer can tell if a car is remapped you know, if it requests 280mb of boost at idle and it is reading 1080mb, its producing an extra 0.8bar of boost at idle, so its definetly remapped! and he didnt believe there is such a thing as atmospheric pressure
Forgot to mention the other one Dave, there isnt any overboost at all, we checked, but our diagnostics only measure up to 2100rpm, I'm sure the K04 isnt even spinning at 2100rpm
I'm in for some fun in the morning when I go to pick my car up arent I :popcornsoda:

My black ones are GT100s so yeah should go straight on! They do both options for the Roc R. :happy2:
-
I think they have been like that for about a year now mate, my ones were like that its a nice touch
-

Alex Perkins had his replaced, and his aernt the same, so not sure that's completely correct
-
Im sure i bought mine in november last year, i though it was a good idea at the time as well because i dont really bother with cleaning them so i thought i could just replace the pipes if need be !
What was the old system like ? Were the pipes just attached to the backbox as one piece ?
Im thinking of selling mine and going for the valvatronic bcs, ill wait for the prices first i think
-
yes they were, not removable ..but if your good with a Mig welder and a grinder, anything is possible.
-
Steve, OT, please could you direct me to your interior modifications thread. Been trying to find it to no avail. Particularly interested in the gloss black door trim.
-
I think its been banished by the powers that be, reducing Thread history perhaps to keep forum more stable??.
It was some time ago i done this...
-
Ahh OK, cheers dude. I will have to find my own way!
