Title: Squeeky noise on start up and hesitant to start.
Post by: dobber on September 20, 2011, 11:00:29 am
Ive only had my ed 30 for a few weeks but i have an annoyance!

When i start my car up in the morning chuffing/squeek sound from the left hand side of the engine. Ive had a look and it looks like its behind a plastic cover on th eleft hand side of the engine, probably covering part of the cam belt and pullys, any ideas? I think its a bearing but whatch one is most commen to failure.

Another issue i have is that when i start the car, warm or not its a bit hesitant to start. Turn the key and and it turns over, alsmost cuts out then kicks into action. Is this normal or not?

They always take a while to tick over on cold! The TSFI just does that and yes, your right, the squeek is the cambelt by all accounts!

More likely the cam belt tensioner or roller.
