Why can't you get to the dentist sooner?
Do you have a dental hospital in your area as they will see you out of your dentist working hours.

Not looked into the nearest dental hospital but haven't been to the dentist in 14 years and it's the earliest they can see me.

If no dental hospital nearby, I would try going to A&E at you local hospital or make an emergency appointment with your GP (for pain relief).
What pain relief medication are you using?

If you're registered with a dentist, you should be able to access emergency dental care.

If severe enough, yes...

If you have an abcess, the pain is caused by increasing inflammation. Try anti-inflammatory drugs such as Ibuprofen (as long as you aren't allergic or suffer gastric problems). You may find that hot foods make the problem worse (as the abcess expands), in cases like this I've known folk to carry a flask of iced water & use it as a pain relief (the abcess contracts).

Apart from that there really is no alternative than to relieve the pressure, and that means dental treatment. It's likely that you'll want something doing before the appointment you have actually comes round, so try a local dental hospital, as suggested, or A&E.

Hope you get relief soon. And get a dentist & stay with them. You wouldn't miss servicing your car. Don't miss servicing your teeth :happy2:

As said call NHS24 / NHS direct once out of hours and you'll get an emergency dentist appointment probably tonight if you're in real pain.  They're called G-Dent up here but I'm sure other health boards have the same arrangement.
