Can someone explain what is it on my headlights? Just where the bonnet meets them at the top there is something on the headlights. It feels like someone has stuck something on them, and then pulled it off leaving a rough texture behind. I noticed it on another mk5 Golf a little while ago, so assuming its something not unusual?
How do I get rid if it, it looks horrible!

Got a picture? Im unsure what you mean. visible on outside or only when you got the bonnet up? I know the headlight has little lines on it, this what your on about?

Might have had one of those beam sticker things for when the car is used in Europe. Stops glaring other drivers. In which case sticky stuff remover or tar&glue remover should do the trick.

Is it not like a thin strip of foam stuck on to stop the bonnet hitting the headlights when you shut it?!

No its actually on the headlights and it is all across the top just under the lip of the bonnet. I've just had another look, too dark for pic, and its feels rough and its like a residual that's been left on the light where someone has removed something that was on there. I'll try to get a pic tomo, will be difficult though as its almost clear in colour.

Have you tried using tardis or similar products to remove it?

Could this have been residue from a head light protector that's now been removed?
