I'm like a boomerang.
At present my wife runs about in a MKV GT Sport 2.0TDI 140 DSG 5 door with leather. I have the Porka as a weekend toy and my weekday hack is a VW Transporter Kombi. However when we go out as a family we usually take the Golf. It's a lovely car, but not fast enough, so I got it remapped last week, goes much better, but still isn't doing it for me when I drive it. It only does approx 350 mikes or so per month so fuel economy isn't a worry.
So in the last few days I've found myself browsing used GTI's and S3's............Of which I've had all variants of before! Ideally I'd want a 5 door S3 DSG, but I'm going to limit the budget to £12k. Mileage isn't a problem. I'm after a 2008 onwards GTI edition 30 or Pirelli DSG 5 door. Poverty spec would be ok and up to 75,000 miles. If anyone has such a vehicle get in touch. This would be our 5th MKV - previous models are; GTI DSG, R32 DSG, ED30 DSG. There really is not getting away from what great all rounders these cars are - good mpg, great drive and performance, and the back seat can accommodate all 3 of my children with ease.
The only mod would be a remap.

I've looked at that but it's a manual, and ideally I want DSG. And also the pirelli in the ads.
However if they were cheap enough.......

3door white dsg gti? 53000miles
Can be stage 2+ or not...
-
Thanks, but needs to be 5 door.

There's a Pirelli 5dr DSG at Peter cooper Hedge end with a full spec list, 12 k miles on a 58 plate,Xenons ,RNS,all except a Sun roof, but asking 17k!..Its Imaculate and a spotless, a real keeper and if i had spare funds, i would be swopping..
You might be able to strike a trade deal with the Derv Oli?
Totally agree about it being such a great car, couldnt imagine anything as much fun for the money, and knowing you oli, an s3 wouldnt be on your drive too long ..
Pirelli or another Eddy anyday.
S3 in 5 door sportback's still command at least a 20k price tag, all older S3's are 3 door and not as good for a Family bus.
-
Hi Steve
That's ridiculous money for that car. I will sell mine through my garage, and aim to buy trade or private. I've already discounted the S3, however it is the car my wife wants so if a high miler came up next year I'd probably go for it. Like I said mileage is not an issue as she only does 3-400 miles per month tops, mind you that will probably go up as I'll be having a play in it!
I keep trying being sensible with a diesel, but I can't be sensible, it's definitely petrol in my veins, of the 99 variety. Still not bad going, it'll be our 5th MKV!
I would maybe consider a very high spec standard GTI, but it would have to be fully loaded, and White!

I have know this car from 8000 miles, its now on 33000. I sold it to its second owner via my work, and we have carried all the services out on it from new to VW spec with VW parts, religiously every year, including a recent cambelt change, DSG oil change etc , so I know its been well looked after. It also has a stage 1 Oettinger re-map on it, which I organised
Im excited............for my wife of course!
Pictures to follow
It needs a couple of ally refurbs, but other than that its lovely condition.

Damn you :signLOL: :signLOL:
Congrats, sounds a good spec'd car..
-
Yes, I am rather pleased with the specification - theres not much more that could be added as an option is there? I also noticed it has highline computer, and Ive added cruise today as the indicator switch was broken, which we disocvered when we serviced it.
Ordered my plaque today.
All Ive got to do is refurburbish the wheels and fit a parrot kit, and all will be sweet.
I get it on thursday.

Excuse the poor light iPhone pics.
On Monday, the wheels are off to be refurbished, parrot kit being fitted, and it's off to have the latest VAG software uploaded, to cure the slight DSG hesitation. I also need to get the tracking done as the wheel is slightly off centre.
So far, really pleased, for my wife of course.......Just such a good all round car
Thanks for looking
