It is to my knowledge the cam position sensor, someone with ETKA will see this and assist you with a part number :happy2:

Morning bump to see if anyone has a part number before i go into vw? thanks
-
Right wen to volkswagon this morning and on there system they were unable to help at all and because mines damaged i cant remove the plug to find the part number. Is there a kind hearted gent out there willing to see if theres has a part number and what it is. Otherwise im going to have to take it into a garage and really dont want to do that.

its not the cam position sensor but the vvt actuator/solenoid.
-
do you happen to know a part number and how much they are. When i removed it it looked expensive :fighting: thanks alot for your help
-
also what damage would i do driving the car with this not working correctly
-
i just had a look at mine, couldnt see any part numbers, but as someone else already said its the vvt solnoid, if u ask vw for a picture of the vvt compenents it should hopefully list it there, i hope for your benefit it is available seperatly as it looks expensive and possibly a bit of a slag to fit. It shouldnt really do any damage driving it, you will probably just get a lack of power.

Right car has gone into the garage today and i have a bit of a bonus. If my car was newer and not engine code AXX the sensor would cost me £160 but as it is AXX its only £60. Also its really easy to fit as theres just two torque bits and it slides out. Took it out to see if i could find a part number and in the end vw rang to say they have the number for it now.
