This may seem a really daft question, hope someone has the answer as it annoys the hell out of me.
On the honeycomb detailing around the front fogs, I have quite a few of the hexagons missing. They seem to have been almost punched out (as if on purpose). Looking at other pics of various Mk 5's they are the same with varying degrees of 'missing' holes.
Why is this?
Cheers

Is it a square shape? There for cooling holes I belive, an extra.

I think VW had them on the earlier designs but it then changed to completely closed on later ones.
-
I have seen a few with just the odd one missing, don't think there was any reason for it though.

I think on the fully closed ones each side has one missing for the screw and then on the open ones it has the square shape cut out of them.
For them to come out they would need to be cut out or something so I reckon youve got the early open ones

Thanks for the replies....my cars a 54 plate so your comments make sense about the missing honeycombs applying to earlier models.
Thanks again, been driving me mad trying to work out a logical reason for why VW would do this.

My 08 had them missing too...
