Title: Having a nightmare removing the cd changer in the armrest
Post by: Teo10 on September 26, 2011, 03:29:04 pm
Hey guys,

As it says, trying to remove this and having a complete nightmare, Do the removal keys go in the side where it has the load/eject keys or at the sides of the actual changer?

Have tried both but can't find a slot on the far side (nearest where the armrest sits up)

They go down the side of the load and eject, took me a while to get mine out aswell and cut my fingers in the process on the poxy keys

This thing will literally not move like half an inch out the armrest, did anyone else have such a hard time trying to get this out?!

Mine was the same, very tight to move. I eventually took out the small stowage box  on the rear of the console/armrest (you might have a cup holder there) and pushed it up from there. It just popped out then. :happy2:

Currently doing this exact job. The security tabs on the MDI Dock I'm about to install are completely different so took me ages to work out how it comes out.

Basically you're looking to press in the tabs on the bottom of the picture below:

using keys like this of credit card cut-out equivelants like I'm using:

p.s.Not my pics hence why I don't have the keys to use.  :sad1: Would make this job so much easier as the wee credit card equivelants keep breaking.  :sad:

You could maybe have a go at making a set up,the graph paper and rule give you a good idea of size and scale.

I did make mine own up last night, out of an old subway loyalty card! Don't mock my mad MS Word skillz!!  :wink:

A=28mm
B=4MM
C=2MM
D=2MM

Sizes are very rough. If you adjust your window zoom level to 53% you can measure it yourself off of the screen.  :wink:
The small parts 'C' are liable to break easily so be prepared to make a few extra and they are generally only single-use items if made from an old credit card.

It took about 40 mins up at my mates house using various tools, had to take the cup holder out the back and try push it up, the clips were being a pain!

Thanks to Demon666, recieved the dock etc and all working perfectly and FINALLY have decent music to listen to :happy2:
