Had my wheel alignment done around 1 month ago, cost me £50 for 4 wheel laser setup. Around 1 week later I drove through a pothole. So I thought forget it, it's my fault. Booked it in again, cost me another £50 for the same setup. Drove around for just over another week and guess what..... Bang. Again I drove through another pothole. I was making sure this time to be extra careful not to drive through any potholes but in Edinburgh where I'm from it's almost impossible. So now I'm gonna have to book my car in for alignment again for a other £50. £150 for alignment :fighting:
Really getting fed up of this, why is the alignment so easily knocked out

you can apply to your local council for compensation
they'll say no at first but persevere. check what it says about their highways management policy - a pothole probably means they've violated their own policy that you pay counicl tax for them to uphold. they should reimburse you with a bit of persuasion. i'm about to do something similar with my local council - they've even got a dedicated phone line for the problem so it's clearly not unheard of.

Go get a pic of the potholes and put a claim into your local Highways agency, tell them there is no damage to the wheels but you've had to have the car aligned I'm sure they will at least pay for one of the jobs you have had done.
^^Beat me to it :happy2:
It needs to be the Highways agency - the council will not do a thing :fighting: just refer you to the Highways.

I've sent away 2 claim forms already for both incidents with photocopies of the repair bills. It says they will take up to 28 days to reach a decision. If they reject my claim how could I go about that or am I best leaving it!?
I can't take any pics of the potholes as they're both on busy main roads and always cars driving on them
-
Appeal the claim if they reject it, all claims if rejected will have a letter advising you of the appeal process :happy2:

when this happened to my parents', who live in leeds, Merc W221 (which needed a Pirelli PZero for a 275mm wide 20" tyre - i.e. not cheap) they sent an investigator over so he could take a photo of it

See if this helps.

I broke an amg 19" on a hole 4 inches deep Southampton council said it wasn't a main route and only surveyed once a year and because of that they got away with it
New wheel £350, new tyre £165
You have report it and they will repair it but get pics of depths etc
