Well as some of you might have seen me saying i have a jetta well here it is, i sold my polo :( but with that gone it let me move on to bigger and better things, so about 3 week ago i picked up a 2006 jetta 2.0 tdi sport with 49k and full vw service history and timing belt and water pump done, had afew ideas going round my head and wasnt sure what i wanted to do with the car modding wise.
Well here it is once id picked it up
(https://www.mk5golfgti.co.uk/forum/proxy.php?request=http%3A%2F%2Fdaz.co%2Fmedia%2Faa348%2Fdan_dub88%2Fe9712c40.jpg&hash=8ee52f8edb11eb0a1810a7cd062be18d24baf8b3)

Then after browsing the net for hours looking for wheels i finally found a set that i wanted so went and got them.
(https://www.mk5golfgti.co.uk/forum/proxy.php?request=http%3A%2F%2Fdaz.co%2Fmedia%2Faa348%2Fdan_dub88%2F9f9c7b11.jpg&hash=62e5e0c35a870fcb7fcede35c41516b82ed3e193)
After id picked the wheels up they didnt go anywhere near the car till i'd bought some coilovers so the hunt went on for the coilovers, in the end i went for some fk ak streets, once they'd arrived it was a couple of days wait before a friend could fit them for me but what a difference it made when it was all sorted.
Work in progress
(https://www.mk5golfgti.co.uk/forum/proxy.php?request=http%3A%2F%2Fdaz.co%2Fmedia%2Faa348%2Fdan_dub88%2Fc89bf012.jpg&hash=0f1893b4777f3d2bdff59f58761c3cb619bab866)

Then once wound down abit more and sitting better
(https://www.mk5golfgti.co.uk/forum/proxy.php?request=http%3A%2F%2Fdaz.co%2Fmedia%2Faa348%2Fdan_dub88%2F0458c9dc.jpg&hash=2bf4b8879fcd82d8a7b34d5bae53b61d3d32cc00)

I've fell out with mine at the minute because its not working right.
-
Ah right, whats up with it?
-
had a recon turbo put on because my old one was making the siren noise. But now its really laggy and I get lots of black smoke.
-
Where did you get the turbo from mate? Its not a uprated hybrid is it??
-
Nope couldn't afford a hybrid. going to give the actuator rod a play with tomorrow. Might be a bit off, or possibly got a boost leak
-

One of your turbo pipes is off mate, When I had my hybrid put on it did this exact thing loads of black smoke and wouldn't boost properly, would also go into limp mode...
Get your turbo pipes looked at especially the small 90 degree one coming out of the turbo onto the metal intercooler pipe.
Darren :happy2:
-
looks nice mate
-
looking sweet!
-
Took the jetta to get remapped yesterday got a before and after dyno. On stock it produced 151bhp so 11bhp more than quoted from factory, then after the map its 185bhp so a nice step up.

Looking good man, any noticable difference in power with the egr delete? My friend (bora) said he noticed it :ashamed:
Also... Any photo's as to where you tapped into for the boost gauge, and links to it?
-
Its got more power lower down the revs now, darksides egr delete pipe has a tap already in it so you can run a boost gauge from it.
-

Thanks for that, somthing to consider in the future then! :ashamed:
-
Hmmm shiney new parts, is it a cheap mod?
-
Got it fitted ok then mate? How did your find it removing the cooler aswell? Much of a job?

I consider the EGR delete as a preventative mod as opposed to a performance one. You won't see any gains but you are less likely to lose power and cause other issues as time goes by when everything gets clogged up :happy2:
-
Any instruction son the egr cooler removal and where the hell does that metal egr pipe go?
-
Then after browsing the net for hours looking for wheels i finally found a set that i wanted so went and got them.

No 8" all round, but I've also got the staggered LM's there 9s on the rear.

Fronts bolt straight in rears were a pain to do.

What et are the Calibre?
-
I wouldn't recommend it lol.
Calibre's are et35 I think.
-
Did you retro fit the electrics and heat?
Also am interested in your old seats in for sale section, its just getting to you. I am based near Bristol.
-
I haven't wired them in yet just wired the airbags in, but I will be retro fitting them in.
I saw your post about my old seats, I can send them on a pallet but that's not going to be cheap.

You might have seen me out that way the other week as I was picking some stuff up from worksop.
-
Not updated in ages but that's because nothing has changed, but bought some more wheels today so when I've received them and got tyres sorted etc ill get some pics up
-
What have you gone for Dan? :pomppomp:
-
Some Touareg alloys in 19's so ill have to see what it looks like on them, just need some tyres and one more set of adapters.
-
Nice car, not seen it about (i work in doncaster)
I have the same colour but on 19 BBS speedlines
-
Should be able to get the 19's on in the next few week once i've sorted a leaky tyre
-
How long did it take you to fit your coil overs? did you encounter any problems getting the front strut out the hub? or any other problems doing it?
Cheers
Jetta is mint by the way :happy2:
-
It didnt take took long fitting the coilovers but we took our time doing them, could have them done in 2 hours or less i reckon, getting the struts out of the hubs wasnt too bad, just sprayed some grease on them and used a chisel to widen the gap where the strut locator tap goes and it came out with afew knocks with the hammer.
And cheers for the comment :happy2:
-
No worries its what it deserves. I was gonna attempt mine tomorrow, do you reckon i should be able to do it on my own?
-
If your mechanical minded then yeah shouldnt be too bad, the rears are easy the fronts need abit more work. Have you started a build thread?
-
Not yet, i have just joined this forum. But i have started a build thread on Mkivs, have been a member on there for a number of years. I think i should be ok with the rears, its the front i'm not too confident with.
-
Where you based mate? Someone on here might be able to offer a helping hand for some beer tokens.
-
I am based in newcastle upon tyne, i asked a few people on mkivs, they said they would help but are never free when i am. Dont suppose you would be interested, if i drove down?
-
Sorry im not free either mate got afew busy weeks ahead as im just in the process of moving house.
-
Pretty sure I spotted you In mexbrough yesterday about 5ish
-
Yeah that was me mate, it was friday i was on my way home from work, i saw the suprised look on your face lol then i wasnt sure if id seen your car on here or not.

I was thinking of doing this myself after xmas. il let u have a go first haha

Danny, I'm new here but interested in your seats conversion: I've put Audi A6 S-line heated seats in my Skoda Octavia. Wanting to connect up the heated elements and bought a car wiring loom and new climatronic panel, but turns out the Audi seats seem to use a different system of controlling the seats. On VWs/Skodas there is a 'heated seats control module' under one of the seats, but nothing on my Audi seats, seems I need one of these modules and a mini wiring loom under each seat.
Did you ever get your heated seats heating: I'd be really interested if you have done or have any words of wisdom!
Dave
-
Sorry mate i havent got round to sorting my heated seats yet :-( i started reading into it and it seems pretty hard to sort so i just left it but i'm sure i'll have ago at it at some point.
-
Thanks for reply. It is a heel of a lot more complicated than I'd hoped. I'm at that point of no return: already spent a fair bit of cash on wiring loom and climatronic panel, do I sink a load more into this or just give up gracefully..

Small update, fitted a Forge gear Knob, love how it feels

Haven't been on here for awhile so thought id do a small update, as much as I loved this car I ended up selling it two weeks ago to a friend of mine, so I've now moved onto a A5 3.0 TDI Quattro, will get some pics up soon.
-
Shame you sold your Jetta, but i'm sure you're more than happy with your A5!. I follow the guy on Instagram who bought it off you and he's already changed it a bit
-

Audi fwiend :drinking:
:signLOL:
How's it drive compared to the Jetta? Look forward to seeing a thread for it following on from this one Danny :happy2:
Please say you've an exhaust planned... They sound the mutts nutts with an exhaust that exploits that V6

The A5 feels like its in a different league compaired to the jetta lol.
Yeah i've got a custom exhaust planned already, dummy dpf then just straight all the way back, if its too loud hes told me he can put a mid box in to make it abit quieter lol, also planning to have it mapped the day after i get the exhaust done so i can enjoy both mods together
should be looking at around 300bhp with the exhaust and remap.
-
Plan game: Strong
:D
Yeah stage 2 and a good system will reveal 300hp fairly easily I'd have thought, judging by the YouTube vids I've spent way too long watching  ?
What's it like on fuel in real terms?
Presumably you've running the dual clutch semi-auto box (DSG equivalent)?
Look forward to seeing some pics and thread/blog either way :happy2:

Its a manual the one i've got. Its not a new one its a 57 plate.
Fuel wise its not that bad to be honest, i travel 50+ miles a day to work and back so im on the motorway all the time, it costs about £70 to fill and im getting around 500 mile to a tank, i can average between 42mpg to 50mpg (according to the trip computer) but then if you give it the beans around town it will soon drop to 25mpg to 32mpg.

Ah yea, TBH the new ones are extortionate for what they are.
That's neat and tidy on fuel! You're very nearly reeling the same figures as my FWD CR170 (Revo'ed) give or take a couple here and there, so I think that's impressive for a V6 unit. I can get 60mpg on a longer run while driving gingerly, but as with most driving, journeys are usually below 30 miles so it sits around the 44-58mpg mark depending on where and how spirited.
To the Ring' and back, I got 720 miles from one tank brim-to-brim, 55 litre tank.
I reckon yours would have managed 600-620 on a steady cruise without too much trouble on the same journey, perhaps bit better once mapped
I'm getting the vibes yours wouldn't be much more to run than mine at all - which is useful to know with another 70hp and 150 or so torques standard
You think the clutch will be fine once you're in the 650nm mark? :innocent:

From what i've been reading on the A5 OC Forum the gearbox/clutch is ok for 780nm so it should be fine.
Just had alook through your build thread and i've noticed you've got the wheels on i've been looking at but i've been looking at them in 20"
, also been looking at S5 brake setups aswell but they can wait for now.
-
^ :happy2:
Good stuff.
Haha you'll probably need to remortgage for 20"s. 18x8's are £800 new without tyres, 19"s around a grand. Even used 20"s, the market must start at £1400 ish for CKs, no? :scared:
How's the spec in yours?
Keen to see pics man

Theres a set ive seen that are very cheap on ebay due to having 2 cracked repaired.
Mines a sport so no S-Line bumpers or anything, its got full heated electric leather, satnav etc. I've got a friend with Vagcom so hopefully going to activate a few little extras.
Only picture i've got i think.

I'd avoid cracked rims like the plague, regardless of how well they may of been repaired. Seen a few cases of repaired alloys failing shortly after because you just can't repair the structural strength of an alloy once it's cracked.
-
How's it driving Danny? :happy2: Looks fine to me.
RS style grille and you'll be laughing. Got suspension/wheels/etc in mind, the usual mental prep plan? :rolleye:
Don't think I could buy a car anymore without knowing what mods I'm going to do first.
How's it drive and how's it been on fuel?
