OOh interesting you have the hella lights as these are being discussed a lot here at the moment.
Are they the same as the gti lights?
Any reviews, close up pics? Are they Bi-xenon (where the mirror flips up on full beam)
Im trying to convince Andy O2 to get them for his ;) ... He is here too as Oxygen BTW
-
PS... it needs a Motech map ;)
-
When they are off, next to my bros edition 30 lights, you can't tell. I mean, I can't tell, and Simon can't tell.
When they are on you notice because the temp of my hid kit is a lot more blue than the factory xenons, and my lights don't self-level. You'd only notice that if you had a set next to you tho - there is only a subtle difference in colour.
The kit i installed is a basic kit, not a bi-xenon kit...
-
Interesting.. What temp did you get. I've got 5000k on my van and i think those are still blue'r than my OEM gti ones. I THINK you can get aftermarket kits that do 4300k which might be a better match?
Also interesting you say there is a Basic kit... does that mean there is an 'Advanced' kit which does fo bi Xenon?
-
Yeah you can get bi-xenon hid kits...
I think mine is 5000k yeah. Haven't asked trups about the other bulbs, was trying to establish what colour id want first.
You think 4300k would do it? To my eyes they look closer to those natural daylight led's you get which are more like 3500k, but unsure if such a thing is possible...
-
Sorry... maybe a confussion.
Did you mean a basic HID kit? Or the Basic hello lamp which doesnt do bi xenon.
As far as I am aware on my OEM xenon lamp the bulb is not dual filament but when I pull the main beam a reflector / mirror (whatever you call it) inside the xenon unit flips up ... thus getting rid of the dipped beam cut off and allows more light to shine further down the road.
As far as I'm aware that feature is all in the lamp and nothing to do with the bulb which is just single filament.
My question was... does the hella aftermarket lamp have that feature where it flips up the reflector / mirror when you select main beam
-
I don't believe that these headlamps have that feature.
I figure that would, along with not having a ballast included, account for the fact that i paid less than a third of what i would have if the lights were oem ones...
.. i actually wasn't aware that was what the oem lights did - gonna have to have a poke around with my bro's later now!
