Title: Can Gateway battery drain
Post by: AlanEdition30 on September 30, 2011, 06:43:52 pm
Hi

For people who have had the dreaded battery drain from installing a 3rd generation headunit (RNS 510). How quickly did you battery go flat, as im just making sure i definitely need one?

Since having the latest RNS 510 firmware put on for the rear view camera install, my car is still not showing any signs of a battery going flat despite leaving it for 48 once and 72 hours once as well, it turns over on the key as fast as ever

The gateway I have is K

Address 19: CAN Gateway        Labels: None
   Part No SW: 1K0 907 530 K    HW: 1K0 907 951
   Component: J533__Gateway   H04 0020
   Revision:   H04 02    Serial number: 241106F2000049
   Coding: 3F0F034807000001
   Shop #: WSC 00218 210 82609
   VCID: 2F691568C78D

No fault code found.

Can anybody shed anymore light on whether im guaranteed battery drain in the not so distant future?
Am i not leaving the car long enough to have a flat battery?

Confused.....   :scared:

Battery drain will normally occur over night, I'm surprised that you are suffering this, as I have known a few people with rev 'K' that have been fine..... :surprised:

Guys, if you read the OP, you'll see that he's not suffering battery drain, but wondering if it is going to present in the future.

I'd say you'll be fine, Alan :happy2:
