Title: Key options
Post by: Weston on October 01, 2011, 05:58:29 pm
I need 2 keys to use my car, 1 fob to unlock it remotely, then a separate one to start the engine. No idea why but that's the way it is. Would it be possible to get the fob re-coded & a new blade cut for the existing fobs (I have 2 sets) so I can just have the 1 key?

Aye - easily done. speak to either your VW dealers, or somewhere like hickleys.co.uk - they are really helpful.

Take the top half off the key that starts it and join it onto the bottom half of the key that unlocks it.

Or go to the dealers and get them to code it all up

Ones just a key, the other is a 3 button fob so I can't do that. Thanks anyway  :happy2:

Can the blade not be swapped over ? Just a case of knocking the pin out

Unfortunately not, the blades are different

Well i know it sounds dubious but a bloke on ebay will cut you a new blade from a photo and send it out to you. I did this and i had my key the next day and it worked perfectly for £12. I can supply a link if you want

Thanks, so that solves the blade. Only issue now is the immobiliser is linked to the key not the fob

I thought the immobiliser is in the top of the 3 button remote, you can get new ones and get it programmed
