Post by: Jussa on October 06, 2011, 06:42:26 pm
Guys,

Any idea how many hours labour should be charged for fitting 1 of these?
I assume the part number I listed is correct

cheers,

Justin

Non-DSG, how the hell can there be such a massive price difference?
I guess a better question is how many hours would it take?

- incl. gearbox removal or not
- DSG or not

You lucky, manual gearbox is way cheaper than DSG.
So I'd say 300 - 400 just to fit the LSD (change differential)
if you swap the gearbox your self.

300-400 to do the whole job?
I'm not technical, so I'd have no idea whether to remove, add, subtract or divide the gearbox  :signLOL:

Just the fitment of the LSD diff.
To do this the gearbox has to be removed.

No way - you have to ask for this at your shop.

8 hours inc removing and refitting the box. 2-3 for just fitting the diff into the box.

Sorry guys, you're not making any sense, my technical knowledge on this is horrendous!!!
Are you saying that its 2-3 hours if I remove the gearbox myself and give the gearbox to the garage to fit the diff, then I fit the gearbox back again myself??
And 8 hours if they remove the gearbox themselves and fit the diff and return everything to working order?

Well if thats the case then its still worthwhile to purchse the diff independantly for around £550 and pay the labour charge on top rather than paying around £1200-£1300 supplied and fitted  :happy2:
That's assumiong you can get a garage who will charge around £50-£60 an hour, or do it at a fixed rate.
