Title: Any info on this car??
Post by: oisinc on October 07, 2011, 10:50:13 pm
Its a 09 reg gti pirelli
FN09 ECX

http://www.autotrader.co.uk/classified/advert/201114384005106/sort/priceasc/usedcars/fuel-type/petrol/transmission/automatic/maximum-age/up_to_2_years_old/model/golf/make/volkswagen/radius/1500/postcode/bt179nu/page/1/keywords/pirelli?logcode=p

I did a hpi check and it checked out.
I have to get the V5 details yet and finish the check.

I also did a google search on the garage selling and it came back less than positive....

Im travelling from Ireland so i don't want to shell out the cash on a trip over if the car is not cool..

Any help would be greatly appreciated

Heard bad things about them, you can see the back half is different from the front.

yeah the pic of the right side of the car is shocking. that alone would make you wonder what these guys are up to. Also do the panel gaps look odd??

Its also priced very competitive.. as in its very cheap..
too good to be true?

Best thing to do would be to ring them and ask for the details on the previous owner and speak to them. If they have nothing to hide they will happily hand them over. That side on pic could be just a bad photo.....

looks a nicely specced car, comes with some good toys.
the paintwork is looking tired, but nothing a full detail session couldnt sort with a machine polisher and some patience.

i personally prefer the white edition 30 they have for sale for 12k (but has higher mileage)

Noticed this car was up for sale in March this year with 21K miles, it was then up for £16,000.
Rang the lad who was selling and it all seemed legit, he was at the time selling it to fund a business venture.
I never took it any further. As it was many miles from where I live.
Seems to now be being sold on again.

Keighley Trade Centre  :fighting: :fighting: :fighting: :fighting:

I live close by & have seen the car, it has definately had paintwork repair and the car is an import.

Alot of the cars supplied by KTC are accident damage imports, they have 3 sites in west yorkshire, the pirelli is at there crosshills site, near VW White Rose.  There are alot of badly prepared cars with the odd one or two that with a bit of money spent could be ok. The reports that i have heared have included faulty cars being refused to be corrected, customers sent to others sites to be fixed only to be closed & given then general run around.

Just look with your eyes wide open and be very cautious, a place i would not go to on my own or recommend.  :happy2:

dont want the hassles of dealing with dodgy c**ts!

sorry for the little i's I blame the iphone it makes you lazy when typing, it corrects everything :))

Yep as said above KTC are notorious on a lot of other forums (see Scoobynet) as they sell cars with faults/ parts missing and wont honour the warranty.
A lot of the cars are imports so you can't trace the history, they swap parts from car to car and don't care about aftersales

this is a plce i drive past a lot (well the 2 sites in keighley itself) and wouldn't think about stopping as a cheap car from there would end up costing a lot more in the long run

AVOID LIKE THE PLAGUE  :scared:

Just to highlight the issues there, they recently sold a M3 V8, when the car was checked over a rear tyre had an egg in the side wall, clearly visible. Mechanic told to turn tyre round so that it was on the inside, therefore cant be seen. Need i say more!! :happy2:

With a edition 30 or Pirelli Id buy dealers or at cost only
There a car that will always be sought after and wanted, they will always have enthusiasts looking for them
So in my eyes I'll buy from main dealer or I will pay a "fair" amount more for one, at a dealer you pay for the after care, you pay for a service and it's reassuring to have Someone to fall back on and let Someone else do the hpi etc for you
As for a trade dealer...pay for what you get, trade dealers know what these cars are worth, they know what money they fetch so in my eyes a cheap car from a trader normally means there is something hiding? Why would they buy a car in for 10k that's worth say 17k and sell it for 12k when they can get the full RRP for it? Normally because there is something that you can't see!

This is why I will buy main dealer from now on,easy to buy from, reassurance, contact, after care, and it looks better when you sell the car on, I got fed up looking for polo for my girlfriend 1 year ago by people advertising things as mint when they were dogs, wasted to much time and caused more hassle and stress, now I'll just pop to the main dealer 5 mins away and leave the work to them
Hope you get a good one  :drinking:

Jack
Wise words mate.
Only started looking recently so hopefully I'll make the right choice and also get one soon.
I reckon might even find one here. :)
I don't know if the ed30 or pirelli ever made it to Ireland so I'm left to choose one in the uk which is slightly akward as I'm sure you can imagine.  I found a normal 08 Gti dsg with a ed30 kit on it over here but the mad basterd wanted 17500 for it.
Anyway I'll keep you all updated on my progress.

Thanks again for the help
