Do I need to get the Gateway to prevent battery drain for my car with this radio? Also will I have to re program the steering wheel controls MFD and iPod conection to work with the radio?
Sorry for the questions I'm new to all of this!!
Thanks

on a 56 plate it is likely you'll need a new gateway, and as for reprogramming yes you may need to change a few settings for everything to work.

Cheers man! I was just hoping that I didn't have to! Haha even more hassle! I'm still looking at the kenwood volkswagen radio! But then i dont know if it will work with the display on the dash!
-
I can guarantee you it won't work
If you want it to work on the dash, then its an RNS or nothing
-
You won't regret buying the RNS and come the time to sell the car you can resell it and get most of your money back
There are several members on the forum who can fit and code the gateway and navi.
where are you located?
-
East Sussex. I looked on the VAG-COM section and a found a guy nearby so would have a PM him about it later on.
What else would be required for me to Get this to work? Is the sound quality of this better or much the same as what I already have, I'm guessing it's the rcd500?
I have soooo many questions! Are there any threads with detailed information on the RNS cause I don't understand all the different versions either!
Sorry for all the noob questions!

The sound quality is a big improvement over the standard RCD300 and RCD500.
depending on what firmware is on the unit and whether you want to add things like Voice control or Rear View camera will be the deciding factor on what version you should buy
